Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Mel Kiper at it again...

http://arrowheadaddict.com/2013/02/1...go-in-the-20s/

Quote:
Mel Kiper Thinks Geno Smith Will Go In The 20′sFeb 13th, 2013 at 12:08 pm by Patrick Allen

ESPN’s draft expert, Mel Kiper did a conference call with the media today and said that he thought West Virginia QB Geno Smith would be drafted somewhere in the 20′s in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Kiper wouldn’t rule out Smith being taken in the top ten, however.

This lines up with Kiper’s ESPN co-worker Todd McShay’s view on Smith’s prospects. Speaking recently on draft podcast, McShay said he could see a team like the Chiefs moving back into the first round and into the 20′s to select a QB like Smith or USC signal caller Matt Barkley.

I could see this happening as well but I am not sure that it will. If Smith is good enough to go int he first round than I think some QB-desperate team in the top ten will go ahead and “reach” for him. With so few decent QB prospects in this draft, the stock of the top QB’s should be pushed even higher than normal. If a team like the Chiefs, Jaguars, Browns or Raiders really wants Smith then they probably won’t worry too much about passing on a handful of other players to ensure they get him.

I agree with that philosophy. With no obvious difference-makers int his draft and with QB being the most important position in football, I think some team needs to go ahead and roll the dice here. And I think they will.

But will that team be the Chiefs?

Mel's nothing more than a shady, overpaid cartoon at this point...kind of like 90 percent of the people ESPN employs.

Geno started 40 games in college and completed 67.4 percent of his passes.

Now just gotta wait for that Wonderlic.
Ohhh ouch! Ricky Stanzi started 39 games, got a 28 on his Wonderlic but was 59.8% for his college career.

0.2% off from being a successful NFL QB. Tough break, dude.

He got all his bases covered so far:

1) No QB will go in the first round
2) Geno will go in the 20s
3) Geno might go top 10

I don't know what the hell Mel is. He never seemed to be a dumbass true fan "Get yer HAWGS first!" kind of guy like Gil Brandt or Charlie Casserly. However, this year he's arguably the worst of the bunch. At least Todd McShay is predicting Geno to go in the top 10.

Zoebel might be worse than Kiper, but he doesn't count.
