Report: Jets talking about giving JaMarcus Russell a shot

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the New York Jets had some discussions about possibly bringing in former Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell who’s looking to make an NFL comeback.
More recently, after Tannenbaum was let go, members of the organization had some very exploratory, informal discussions regarding former Oakland Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the 2007 No. 1 overall pick who flamed out of the NFL after the 2009 season. Russell recently decided to mount a comeback in hopes of returning to the league next season.
As I’ve said all year, the circus continues on and I’m not sure it’s going to stop any time soon. Between the Darrelle Revis trade rumors and this story. I don’t think we could ask for better entertainment.

I think Rex Ryan is a pretty good football coach, but otherwise, that entire team is a complete disaster. Tannenbaum has really run them into the ground talent-wise, and now they're looking like idiots for chasing guys that were obvious busts. Hes a good defensive coach. hes an awful Head coach, he said he saw a lot of positives after every awful Sanchez performance, and the Jets are a ****ing joke and an embarrassment. this is why Belichick left in 2000. Kraft got it after he went from Parcells to Pete Caroll. and now he bows his head to mumbles.

Woody Johnson doesnt get it, and I dont think he ever will. hes an incompetent owner only interested in headlines and the bottom line, not winning and a super bowl. if it wasnt for the headlines he would just be another rich guy. and hes dying to be like Steinbrenner.

The idiots are making the new GM keep Rex. this is how not to have your organization run.

This story is being sensationalized.

What probably happened is that Russell's people called around and the Jets humored his people. I'll bet a few teams talked to his people, but the media loves to talk Jets and the Jets have a snitch in their front office.
