Mock (3/21/13)

I hate you all.

Assumptions:

1. The Chiefs are unable to trade down from the 1st overall.

On with the show:

1. OT Luke Joeckel, Texas A&M

I still prefer Joeckel over Fisher with a top three pick, because I don't think Joeckel can bust. Fisher would be my pick if we traded down to, say, Buffalo's draft slot.

3. DE Sylvester Williams, North Carolina

I get tired of drafting a guy I don't like in William Gholston, so I'm just going to say Sylvester Williams drops this time around. Williams is a sturdy run defender who can take over for Tyson Jackson in 2014.

3. S D.J. Swearinger, South Carolina

An athletic, smart safety who was a critical contributor for the Gamecocks last year. Swearinger would almost certainly get the start over Abdullah and Lewis/.

4. ILB Jon Bostic, Florida

Another day, another SILB taken in the midrounds.

5. WR Marquise Goodwin, Texas

I think Goodwin could be the next Jacoby Ford. He does have lightning speed that, despite his work-in-progress route running, does take the top off defenses and give corners a ton of trouble. Guarding a guy who is faster than you is miserable.

6. RB Dennis Johnson, Arkansas

I've raved about Johnson before, but this guy should seriously be on the Chiefs radar in the late rounds.

6. NT Montori Hughes, Tennessee-Martin

An incredibly talented, incredibly troubled big body for DL depth. Should this team let Powe or Poe go in the coming year, god forbid, Hughes is a good depth prospect to buttress the DL interior.

7. QB Jordan Rodgers, Vanderbilt

I don't like Rodgers a ton, but if we're taking a QB in the 7th, let's take Aaron Rodgers brother.
