Looks like it won't effect Bowyer that much, these are all pre-chase penalties. Nothing affects Bowyer points wise in the chase.

Ah, I see. 50 pt deduction for the three race teams effectively booted Truex without getting personal. So, Bowyer really doesn't take a hit for what was done, but the organization gets it in the neck for the result.

No penalty for the #48 intentionally running into the wall to trap Logano 2 laps down?

For the record: I thought it was a BS move, but NASCAR teams have done shady crap numerous times in the past. MWR was just dumb enough to openly talk about it on the radio .

The radio chatter is what got them busted, that was stupid they should have known better.

Exactly. You would have thought they could have pre-planned something a touch more inconspicuous.

If I'm Gordon, I punt him on the first lap and say my arm itched.

Hell, Hendrick did essentially the same damn thing with the #48 running into the wall just seconds after Logano went his 2nd lap down. They just didn't openly discuss it without using verbiage that left no question as to what was going on. If Gordon punts Clint, how long is it before Treux punts Johnson?

Certain teams will adjust next season... As long as there are teams there will be supporting the team (and all that it takes to get your larger team into the chase).

They might need to just blow it up...

Wins are awesome and the chase seems a little cool, but I'd love to see a NASCAR that awards points for every lap led. Perhaps the total you can earn by leading every lap could amount to 90% of what the win amounts to (keeping the win, still, the #1 goal), but I'd like to see races where "hanging back and waiting until the end" come to an end. Race hard for 100% of the laps because it matters.

But perhaps that's just a pipe dream... And a topic for a different thread...
