Chiefs A Pet Naming Quandary - Page 4

We're getting a new dog and are arguing about names.

My boys (5 and 7) have both settled on the name Chief.

It is wrong of me to not want this name for our new dog because I see it as something of an ill omen for the dog at this point. Is this how far we've sunk?

I'm still pushing for Hugo (a local restaurant, Hugo's, plays a significant role in our family's lives).

Should I just make peace with Chief as a name and have confidence that the pall hanging over the franchise has finally been lifted?

I don't really want to say to the kids, "Listen boys. The Chiefs suck. We don't really want to name our dog after a shitty team do we?"

I like Chief.

And I wouldn't name my kid, or dog, or boat based on what's popular now...

When the Chiefs are doing well, you can say it's K.C., standing for your favorite football team. When they're not, back to Casey. Win, win.

I hardly ever call my dog by his name, which is Scooter, given to him by the shelter where I got him. I like the name fine, but I mostly just call him Dog or Poot. He couldn't give a ****.

I like the name Pork Chop for a dog if you're looking for more suggestions.
