The majority of the people in this country did not support Obamacare. The proposal did not have the votes in the House to pass. So, what did the people in power do? The will of the people ignored, their voices via their elected representatives silenced but, it is laughable to think that we are so far away from a totalitarian government or even a dictator? The House was dominated by Democrats in 2009-10. The Senate was far trickier.

Yes, we're far away from a totalitarian government and/or a dictator. Obamacare was passed with solid majorities by democratically elected representatives.

Obamacare polled poorly as a whole but its individual parts, when explained, polled very well (except for the medicine that makes the whole thing possible, the individual mandate). So the idea that Americans opposed it is not as clear as you believe it to be.

You're off the beaten path. Seriously. Not even conservatives in this forum will back you up on that description of Obamacare's passage. You don't have an accurate recollection of how Obamacare was passed, and you're using that to buttress the idea that we are one gun control law away from King Obama.

You are correct, there was a vote by the house on the senate bill (though not the comfortable majority you say it had) but, it was not an up and down vote on the bill but, rather a procedural vote that had the bill attached to it.

No, every argument you made in response that post was dealt with in the portion of the post you did not respond to. You ignored the fact that assault weapons are already banned. You ignored the fact that these laws you want will NOT stop criminals from buying guns. Gun runners are not going to call in for a back ground check on their hoodlum customers. These measures you support are completely pointless. The ONLY people they affect are the law abiding citizens.
