Do you support the outright ban of "assault" rifles?

Simple...

yes or no.

This thread brought to you by a comment in DC stating we would be surprised by how few people in DC would support the ban. Figured we might as well get numbers.

History isn't the hold up in this conversation, it's logic.
The majority of the people in this country did not support Obamacare. The proposal did not have the votes in the House to pass. So, what did the people in power do? They lied and said they would have the votes to pass it if they did vote on it and so announced it passed. The will of the people ignored, their voices via their elected representatives silenced but, it is laughable to think that we are so far away from a totalitarian government or even a dictator? The only lack of logic is on your part.

Not so much. If you are not worried about it, chances are you are not going to be very diligent in watching out for it.

Put them on the radar. Put all assault weapons on the radar. That's another critical move for gun control.

Anything that gives law enforcement a better chance of sniffing them out.
You completely ignored the rest of the post which covered these issues. Which means it would be nothing short of futile and idiotic of me to repeat the response here given that it will most likely be ignored again. If there is any desire on your part to continue with this, then you can go back and respond to what you ignored.

What in Blue Hades are you talking about.

The House was dominated by Democrats in 2009-10. The Senate was far trickier.

What. The hell. Are you talking about. Seriously.

Obamacare passed with comfortable majorities in both the House and the Senate. The trick was beating cloture in the Senate.

Yes, we're far away from a totalitarian government and/or a dictator. Obamacare was passed with solid majorities by democratically elected representatives.

Obamacare polled poorly as a whole but its individual parts, when explained, polled very well (except for the medicine that makes the whole thing possible, the individual mandate). So the idea that Americans opposed it is not as clear as you believe it to be.

You're off the beaten path. Seriously. Not even conservatives in this forum will back you up on that description of Obamacare's passage. You don't have an accurate recollection of how Obamacare was passed, and you're using that to buttress the idea that we are one gun control law away from King Obama.

You're proposing what would cost untold millions in regulation, loss of manufacturing, making current legal items illegal, all for the sake of a couple extra seconds for reload time.

Sounds efficient.....

"Because it's hard" is not a very good excuse to avoid gun control.

No because it is wrong and stupid to allow a government that has given us no reason to trust more power~

People, Mrs. Direckshun is not going to change his mind on what he calls "gun control" until his sex idol, Obama, tells him too

You are correct, there was a vote by the house on the senate bill (though not the comfortable majority you say it had) but, it was not an up and down vote on the bill but, rather a procedural vote that had the bill attached to it.

No, every argument you made in response that post was dealt with in the portion of the post you did not respond to. You ignored the fact that assault weapons are already banned. You ignored the fact that these laws you want will NOT stop criminals from buying guns. Gun runners are not going to call in for a back ground check on their hoodlum customers. These measures you support are completely pointless. The ONLY people they affect are the law abiding citizens.

That falls a little short. Especially considering you're acknowledging that your magazine ban wouldn't prevent the attack, but maybe provide a few extra seconds. Sorry but you can't justify the cost for that poor of an expectation.
