Do you support the outright ban of "assault" rifles?

Simple...

yes or no.

This thread brought to you by a comment in DC stating we would be surprised by how few people in DC would support the ban. Figured we might as well get numbers.

More or less, that's actually true.

I would do far more than our current legislation fight would do (gun tracking, for starters). But it's not politically possible.

And crime and killing.

There are downsides to things you like, you know. Might be useful to recognize that.

When you reduce us to single shot weapons, they'll still be useful for crime and killing. But that's not the point. The point is that you were wrong when you said they were weapons of war. Semi-automatic "assault weapons" are not weapons of war.

Again - 80 people were killed in your so-called "mass shootings" last year.

80. Not a million. Not ten thousand. Not even 100.

How you be so utterly ****ing stupid not to understand that these are isolated incidents?

Looks like we're up to 7 complete retards now. But this is still probably the most lopsided poll I've ever seen on this board. Probably the same percentage of people who would vote to legalize child molestation. Perhaps the same voters, too.

28% of <1%, by your own links.
The ratio of sport shooting to crime is along the order of tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands, to one.

First of all, you're being deceptive with the numbers there. You quote percentages on mass shootings with assault weapons, and then flatly say "crime."

Guns are purchased for sport, yes. But they are also purchased readily for the propensity to kill and harm, either in self-defense or otherwise.

Read through this thread -- it does not read like a bunch of sportsman looking to defend their right to shoot clay. It reads like a bunch of folks terrified of being unarmed on the verge of an attack.
