Professor Bans Students From Using Fox News As A Source

Professor Bans Students From Using Fox News As A Source
While it’s not shocking that a journalism professor would ban students from citing news sources that are not credible, it is eyebrow-raising that one of those sources would be Fox News. In a copy of a syllabus obtained by Fox,Stephanie Wolfe, a visiting professor of journalism at West Liberty University in West Virginia, banned her students from citing Fox because she finds it cringe-worthy.

In the syllabus, the Wolfe banned The Onion and Fox News. “Please do not subject me to this biased news station,” Wolfe wrote. “I would almost rather you print off an article from The Onion.”

The university’s president, Robin Capehart, did not appear to agree with Wolfe’s decision when asked for comment.
“One of our values at West Liberty is to encourage students to go out and inquire and gather information and look at as many different sources as possible on any side, before you reach your opinion,” Capehart told a local West Virginia news outlet. “Any attempt to limit the breadth of a student’s ability to investigate is obviously something at which we have a concern.”

when will she be fired?

Really? Matthews is worse than even the likes of Hannity because he pretends to be a real journalist and his FOX equal employer, NBC, trots him out on stage to let everyone believe it.

At least FOX portrays Hannity for what he is.

His comment on being glad Hurricane Sandy hit so Obama could get sympathy votes was probably one of the lowest moments of election night coverage in many decades.

since this is a news thread and I don't want to start something new.

Does anyone know why Drudge refreshes like every 10 seconds.

I can't stand to go there any more. Every time I try to read the headlines the page starts reloading and I can't see shit.

Is it browser specific? Is it site specific?

I had not heard that so I looked it up. It was Chris Matthews that said it. He is a despicable piece of shit as is Sharpton but in this case Al is not guilty~

I think I hate Chris Matthews more than O'Reilly or Hannity or Limbaugh. They're all the same though. Different sides of the same shitty coin.

Yes, everything has a bias. But, to say the major news Networks, CNN and BBC are anything like Fox News is a false equivalency. People get upset when the news is spouted within their preferred world view and then trash it like FOX News deserves to be trashed.

The media certainly has severe problems, mostly being in bed with corporate advertisers. But, FOX News is in a league by itself for making a mockery of actual news reporting and turning it into a propaganda machine. Just goes to prove people love people who agree with them.

I think most are comparing FOX to MSNBC. For FOX to get called out and MSNBC to get a pass is a joke. Both are slanted and serve no other purpose than to deliver propaganda for their party~

This, this and this.

And even among the actual personalities on the various networks, it is a false equivalency to say Chris Matthews or Maddow, or even Sharpton or someone like Bill Maher is the left's version of someone like Sean Hannity. There's a difference, at least to me, in being partisan vs just not caring about facts and reality--that's what Hannity does. As a whole, Fox likes to create a false reality and then they spend the day backing up the false reality they created.
