Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Merrill Hoge may be the dumbest individual on ESPN's payroll. Keep in mind that there is no shortage of stupid on ESPN.

If they want him, they'll go get him. I don't see these guys being "Risk adverse" in the draft like Pioli was.

So Barkley was widely viewed as a 1st round QB in last years draft if he comes out.....but now he's a 4th rounder and a project?

And people eat this shit up?

You sure? I think Barkley could be there still. His injury could cause him to fall. I mean I'd think someone would take a chance on him in round two, but it's feasible at least, to think Barkley bray or even Wilson may still be there at 3.1

Smiths scouting report from 05. He is what they thought he was...

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/foo...ers/63700.html

BIO: Two year starter voted MWC Player of the Year last season after passing numbers of 67.5 percent/2,952/32/4. All-Conference selection as a sophomore after posting 65 percent/2,247/15/3.

POSITIVES: Efficient and reliable passer that's done well in his college system. Accurate in the short field, leads receivers over the middle and places throws where only his target can make the reception. Solid timing on crossing patterns. Patient in the pocket, effectively reads the defense and does not make poor decisions. Goes through receiver progressions, waits for pass catchers to come free and throws to the safe underneath target if nothing's available downfield. Sets up with solid fundamentals and passes with an over-the-top delivery. Keeps his feet active and easily gets outside the pocket, making the throw on the move. Displays outstanding wherewithal and knows where receivers are on the field. Throws tight spiral with good zip. Stands strong and poised in the pocket as it collapses around him.

NEGATIVES: Must improve his corner patters in the end zone as passes tend to be flat. Rarely threw the ball down field in the Utah system.

ANALYSIS: A natural leader that does an excellent job running the offense, Smith has been very productive the past two years. Stays away from mistakes and has a tremendous touchdown-to-interception ratio. Does not have a deep passing arm just yet but would be initially effective in a timing or West Coast offense as he grows into a pro passing game.

PROJECTION: Early First Round

I lol'd when NO put 11 in the box this year. I'm pretty sure Clay has a still.

I mean seriously, who doesn't notice there's nobody covering Bowe?
Matt Cassel, that's who.

lol, i love morons. Just because someone puts up decent stats, doesnt mean their play is better. The last 24 games of alexs career as a starter, have been darn near perfect. People are hung up on the stats. Guess what, when you have the number one defense, best punter, and kicker in the league, and a great special teams return unit, you dont have to put up great numbers. There is a reason alex smith threw less passes than most starters. Very RARELY were they ever trailing.

Alex Smith will be fine here. ANd all of you anti alex hes matt cassel ass clowns will be quiet when the team goes 11-5 and makes the playoffs.

and yes, i will be here when it happens to run it down your throats......

That's awesome....he won't have the luxury of having the #1 defense, #1 kicker and a great special teams unit here. And not only that....but he's going to be in a pass happy offense where he's asked to do more.

This should go well.

YOu have to be really really stupid to think that andy reid is going to use alex smith like he does other qbs.

I pointed out a while ago, no one responded to it either, that hes prolly going to use alex smith a lot like he used jeff garcia when jeff took over when donovan mcnabb broke his ankle. Hes going to go to more of a true west coast offense. Utilizing the run game, and using play action passes, some screens, more slants, curls, things like that.

THe other point i will make is this, again another point that will be over looked.

Your defense is going to get better because you wont be on the field as much, and you wont turn the ball over 37 times at qb with alex smith. therefore your field position will get better, your pass rush is going to get better because of your d coordinator alone. I can tell you from watching Romeo Crennel as the head coach of the browns, that hes not really an attacking style d coordinator.

YOU WILL BE under the guy you got now, because hes from the rex ryan tree.

Expect tamba hali to be regarded again as one of the top pass rushers in the league.

I find it really funny that i can find more positives, than people who should be thinking positively.
