Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

Stats without context is the biggest lie there is.
When the opposing team scores at least 24 points, Alex Smith led teams score only 15.25 points a game.

How many points the 49ers score when the defense allows 24 points:
1. 0 points
2. 3 points
3. 3 points
4. 17 points
5. 10 points
6. 19 points
7. 7 points
8. 6 points
9. 3 points
10. 0 points
11. 10 points
12. 3 points
13. 10 points
14. 10 points
15. 16 points
16. 27 points
17. 14 points
18. 13 points
19. 24 points
20. 13 points
21. 19 points
22. 17 points
23. 27 points
24. 24 points
25. 20 points
26. 24 points
27. 24 points
28. 24 points
29. 22 points
30. 21 points
31. 24 points
32. 34 points

*This does include 2 or 3 games in which he did not start.

So as you can see, in those games in which the defense allows 24+ points a game, Alex Smith teams usually lose by 10+ points.

only three of those games happened in the last two years........one of them an overtime loss where we didnt even touch the ball, and the other was a playoff win, and then week 3 of this season. So, those stats, are kinda misleading in a way. Especially when for some of them, you had jimmy raye as your OC lol.

nope nope nope. Andy Reid just likes to have that vet presence that cant help mold his chosen pupil. Saw it with kolb, under mcnabb, foles under vick.

Alex is just the temp place holder. you guys make the playoffs with alex smith, bonus. Hes just a care taker....

Yes, because no game ends on a punt return like the eagles giants game, or an int, or a fumble.

Nope, always the defense.

Um, who is the idiot? Feel free to neg rep me now......

How so? If that player you drafted at 34 this year, turns out to be another dexter mccluster, or you could use it on a proven care taker for two years....

WHo is to say that second round pick doesnt get injured and never plays a down? People are far too hung up on the actual pick. Once the player is picked, the pick loses all value. If though, trading that 34th pick, and it turns into a second next year, that means you had to of had a pretty good season, and during which that Andy Reid is able to mold your qbotf, then you under paid dont you think?

I don't give a **** who the **** was the OC. Why the **** would I omit games when he had a shitty OC? Should I do that for every single offensive player in the league? Should I omit the past 2 years for Matt Cassel cause he had Brian Daboll and Bill Muir/Haley calling plays?

BTW, in 2012, Alex Smith as 0-2-1 when the opposing team scored more than 24 points.

No, I'm not making excuses for ANY player. If I made excuses for Alex Smith, should I make some for Cassel too? Quinn? Jamarcus Russel? Ryan Leaf?

They didn't have ideal coaching situations either. Why shouldn't I make excuses for them?

W/L Record when opposing teams score 24 or more?

I, too, am tired of that stat. The fact is, most quarterbacks lose facing those odds.

Aaron Rodgers - 12-23
Matt Stafford - 7-22
Eli Manning - 18-44
Ben Roethlisberger - 7 - 25

Obviously, there are guys that are going to have better numbers if they played on teams that lit the scoreboard up. Tom Brady has something like a 31-31 record in this column because he's had both good defenses and great offenses. Some teams rely on good defense and don't build their teams to win by outscoring the opponent in a shootout. Alex Smith has played on one of those teams for his entire career. Hell, look at Eli's numbers. That's a HORRIBLE stat line...no one would bitch if we brought him in. I'm not saying that Alex Smith is half of what Eli Manning is, but I'm pointing out that this stat is more of a reflection of the way that the team is built, rather than the quarterback.
