Would You Rather: Alex or Cassel plus two seconds?

Would you rather have:

Cassel starting and two second rounders or

Alex Smith

I understand this hypothetical is a straw man, but just trying to get a real gauge on how much people like Alex/hate Cassel...

The 49ers are going to rape this draft with that 2nd rounder of ours.

I will take Cassel and the picks plz. At least then we can solve our QB situation through the draft. The proper way.

Cassel restructures; back up.

Smith blows out his knee Clinton Portis like in camp

Cassel is the starter.

Cassel (as a backup with a pay cut) and the two picks. Then take Geno #1. Easy.

Yep.

Neve thought I'd choose Cassel over anything. But today is a strange day.

I'd rather have an ice pick in my eye socket than either option.

I'd rather have Alex in this ridiculous hypothetical situation.

I did tell everyone that Smith was worth a 2nd round pick. I just wish we weren't the suckers...

I'd go for the short term pain over the long term one.

Cassel would be benched mid season and we'd be back where we are here next year.

Alex Smith will be 5 years of mediocrity and maybe 1-2 playoff births. When it's all said and done? Everybody is fired and team has to go in a different direction. Oh and we'll be drafting probably #17 that year in that rebuild.

Smith is clearly worse than Cassel. Not because there's a huge talent difference but because since he's younger people will think they can spend more time 'developing' him. Thus wasting even more time where this team could actually be trying to win a championship.

Hey maybe we'll get lucky and he'll be like Steve Young. But frankly I think this move may have actually finally gotten me to stop watching football. Not once in my lifetime has this team really been serious about trying to win a championship. Montana era is probably the only borderline period.....

and because someone else will do it....

I kind of thought I might be until I read the other responses to this thread. I know I'm not alone now.
