Wow, I completely missed the "SK" in your first post and assumed you were talking about some hap-hazard idea of NK invading the U.S.

A land invasion of Soko, while I believe would ultimately end up in a decisive U.S./Soko victory, is definitely not something any U.S. policymaker should take lightly. Things could get incredibly ugly in the region in a heartbeat. Also, with China's increasingly standoffish approach to our hegemonic influence in the Pacific region, one better believe they would do what they could to become involved in the conflict (specifically the aftermath).

Of course we would win and China would allow it without wideing the war. But, at what cost in American lives?

China doesn't want a conflict in SK. They have bigger fish to fry. All they want is not appear weak. Or weaker than they already seem by not controlling NK.

Oh, I am completely against any type of conflict in that region. We too have bigger fish to fry here at home.

They could make a big mess in the short term, but too many of their troops are malnourished, untrained, and completely ill-equipped for them to hold what they manage to overrun with sheer numbers.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
