MoS Diary: Adele lands her biggest ever gig at Michelle Obama's 50th birthday party

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...day-party.html

So Adele and Beyonce are going to perform for Queen Michelle but the tax paying citizen can't get a tour of the White House?

So is it your opinion there should be no non state events at the Whitehouse?

Trying to extract an actual point from you beyond the normal stance of being butt hurt because you are one of the people who thought Obama wasn't going to get another 4.

Don't worry; they're pulling the staff from the cancelled White House tours to cover this...

Where did I say Obama wouldn't get another four years? Butt hurt?

Go ahead and have non state events at the White House...on their dime. I pay for parties at my house. It should be considered an honor to perform for the President, IMO, and artist should jump at the chance to perform. I'm just tired of taxpayers paying for grand parties for politicians while others are jobless and struggling.

Where is the cut off? The utilities at the Whitehouse that day as well? In the rooms where the event is? Which staff on their dime?

Or how about they just keep doing things as they are and the people hired to run the day to day events that have to do with the running of the Whitehouse and security of those in it do what they are supposed to every single day and let the family pick up the tabs on big things tax payers need not be burdened with.

Or ya know...feel free to get sick. That is sorta funny.

Zach, I'm glad you feel comfortable with all this. I'm not.

BTW...you realize this isn't a party for our President? The POTUS is given a $19,000 per year entertainment budget. Do you think any of our Presidents have ever stayed in that budget yearly? No wonder this country is broke.

Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.

In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.
You really should write your Congressman. Try to get him sponsor legislation requiring the president to furnish his own housing, staff, transporation and security. Also, you should get a ****ing life.

Where did I say anything about housing, staff, transportation? That's part of the perks of the job, whether I like them or not.

Entertainment, personal travel, and an expense account are also included with the office. IIRC, it's around $1.2 million per year.

Do you honestly believe any President has stayed in this budget lately?

You folks so upset by this stuff really need to get a life. Taxpayers don't pay extra for vacations or even meals that aren't state-business related. Yes, we pay for security because it is mandated that the president and his family are protected by the Secret Service.

This is partially true.

If the POTUS or First Lady fly anywhere for vacation, they use government jets (fair enough). They then pay the equivelent of first class airfare for themselves and each family member. The rest is picked up by taxpayers. Secret Service takes up the rest of the seats and I'm not sure if friends can fly along.
