That "actor" is one dumb MF. SXSW is also host to a MAJOR technology festival... SXSWi. There were a CRAP load of "drones" all over the place.

There was even a Drone Games hacking contest.

Here you have a pic of that oh so scary drone and it's photographer owner.

Tin foil, that's funny. Did you watch the video of Executive Assistant Chief Martha Montalvo of the Houston Police Department reluctantly explaining the HPD drone test flight during a hastily put together press conference? It's part of the news segment from 2010 that I embedded.

there are facts, and then there is tin foil

the fact is, that drone is not a toy.

Which "drone"? The one over Austin? It most certainly is a toy.. well an expensive toy/tool but not some scary government issue surveillance UAV. As I pointed out, that hexacopter is owned by a private aerial photographer. Anyone can buy one for around $2k.

Yeah, I know, it's one of the of real ones (outdated most likely) that have been in the news lately. The video in the OP is just goofy though. Actor/activist/innocent bystander is "tripping out" about a remote controlled toy being used to create hype.

No clue, I am lost as to who is referring to what! I need a drink.

My only point is that seeing high tech toys during a major technology conference isn't really a big surprise to anyone other than some dumbass actor.

Heh, true. Although giving the guy "actor/activist" under his name (to me) implies that the whole interview could just be a set up. That they did it to artificially create a fake scared (or "tripped out") reaction from a pretend bystander.

no, that's got pro cams on it. it's being used as a commercial cam just like any other the cameramen are using to cover the festival. dude, drones are $300 and like half a million folks have them. but that thing is not a toy.
