One drug to rule them all! Scientists find treatment to kill EVERY kind of CANCER TUMOR!!!

Scientists find treatment to kill every kind of cancer tumor
Published March 27, 2013
New York Post

Researchers might have found the Holy Grail in the war against cancer, a miracle drug that has killed every kind of cancer tumor it has come in contact with, the New York Post reported.

The drug works by blocking a protein called CD47 that is essentially a “do not eat” signal to the body’s immune system, according to Science Magazine.

This protein is produced in healthy blood cells, but researchers at Stanford University found that cancer cells produced an inordinate amount of the protein thus tricking the immune system into not destroying the harmful cells.

WASHINGTON, March 27 (RIA Novositi) – Researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine in California have discovered a single drug that has killed or shrunk every kind of cancer tumor it has been used against.

http://en.rian.ru/science/20130327/180288463.html

“This is exciting work and will surely trigger a worldwide wave of research designed to convert this strategy into useful therapies,” said Robert Weinberg, PhD, a professor of biology at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research in Massachusetts who was not involved in the research. “Mobilizing the immune system to attack solid tumors has been a longstanding goal of many cancer researchers for decades.”

Is this it? or just another announcement that turns out to be nothing?

Somehow, some way, "stem cells" have to be credited for the breakthrough.

There's no money in cures. Nothing will come of this, even if it really is a cancer cure.

And if they use that and it works, it would probably cost $10 million to have.

Any drugs just to help the body recover. If you want to own healthy body, the body requires strong regeneration ability. This would require the production of stem cells, stem cell treatment in Singapore has been ranked the best in the world. They have mature technology to help people to cure various diseases. Through the cultivation of stem cells you can rebuild your body. This is the Gospel of mankind.

The report looks legit, and I'm extremely intrigued by this. However, though the work was done on human tumors, they were transplanted into mice, and rodent findings don't always hold up in human subjects. I'm cautiously optimistic.

And to all the tinfoil mother****ers, shut up. Trust me, if the smart individual who came up with this is able to substantiate his findings, they will be utilized.

You are completely undermining most people in science who are both intelligent and caring. The fact that this was made public, and further research will be funded is proof of that.

The complexity of cancer fosters uncertainty and allows those with little scientific literacy to provide thoughts about something they know nothing about.

EDIT: Not legit. In the stanford link, the date says march 26, 2012. Damn. Don't have time to look into where they are at with their research, but needless to say, it kinda sucks that we haven't heard about successful human trials. I has a sad.

For those of you who want to read the full text, here it is:

http://www.pnas.org/content/109/17/6...9-88e05ae3c0e0

It was contributed on january 22, 2012, but published a year ago.

Meaning, they've had this in the works for at least 2 years, and were likely furthering their findings while working on the finished product (publication).

But seriously though. You don't think their ideas have any merit? Not to say that medical professionals like yourself don't have the people's best interests in mind, but money talks and these big pharma companies have a lot of it.

I did some reading (and its been a while so I don't remember the specifics) on some technology related to electric cars that was basically bought out and suppressed several decades ago. I want to say it was an oil or automobile tycoon that bought out the company that was doing the research and shut it down before it even got started.

I wouldn't put it past the greed of man to do something similar in the health industry.

First of all, whose ideas? Those in this thread with the conspiracy claims, or those in the OP. I think the things stated in the OP have a lot of merit. I'm just disappointed that we don't have any hard evidence in human clinical trials stemming from their work.

As for the conspiracy, I usually won't even entertain the idea. There are a lot of PhD's (and MD's, but most of our advances come from brilliant PhD's) who are both extremely intelligent and very altruistic people. But, let's just assume these people are greedy and simply in it for the money (which would be a pretty strong conspiring act for all involved to say "**** it, I'm rich and I don't care" but I'll humor the idea).

Most, if not all of our medical research comes from A) Big academic centers (Research centers associated with a medical school) and B) private sector companies. Now, if any independent group (academic or private) came out with a "cure", or even an extremely effective treatment, do you think they would withhold it? **** no, they would patent that shit, make a dickton of money, and be forever considered the group that cured one of the most debilitating, widespread diseases known to man. In essence, they would get what every scientist wishes (nobel prize, notoriety, money, etc.), and no amount of money offered by big pharma could change that.
