Well let's face it Nelson and his wife did support necklacing and he helped her organize murder campaigns even against their own kind. He was a leader of the ANC's armed wing which was linked to the Soviet Union in the Cold War. He was committed communist. He was jailed because he refused to renounce violence. You've bought the left media's hype about him.

And talk to some Chileans because Pinochet did some good things such as liberalizing their economy after the damage the communist Allende did. Yeah, he was authoritarian but even under that there was a modicum of freedom than what Allende was doing. Pinochet fought the communists who were engaging in terrorism in that country. We never hear much about that do we?

Despite the people voting for Allende first, he seized power in a way to take dictatorship powers to impose socialism...'er communism. This way the people were unable to use representative government to get him out when he revealed his true intentions. But all we hear about is that he was elected. The so-called democratic processes, though, was not allowed to work. Thugs. This is what commies do. They lie, lie, lie then seize power so no one can get rid of them.

What you mention as bad things, are considered good things to most on the right side of the political spectrum. You obviously think otherwise, which merely shows you don't share the values of those on the right. So saying she's not a saint is subjective...but then no one is.

If anything, I'd fault her for her Falkland War. Even Reagan wasn't on her side at first which upset her so he backed down.

It doesn't except for someone expressing a wish that the 51 year old Obama would die before the 87 year old Thatcher. Threads have turned on much smaller posts than that here. Quit acting like you've never been on the CP, Pat.

She helped Great Britain avoid becoming Greece before Greece became Greece. She was a hero, if not a saint.

Not according to this high ranking Republican. Watch the last 10 seconds of this clip and keep in mind this was about 4 years ago. Unless life threats can somehow be counted in reverse it stands to reason the the last 4 years have added substantially to this.

Way to deflect, the point. You have no facts to refute with, I see. South Africa has simply gone from one disastrous system to one that is far worse. Apartheid is not as bad as living under communism. The blacks were at least allowed their own tribal govts even if the Zulu hated the Xhosa. The communists use such issues as wedges to take power because most will agree it's wrong. There were still LOT of black millionaires made there under apartheid. Since, the change the place has gone to pot because Mandela was still a devoted socialist. There's been an explosion of murder, rape, and other violent crime in South Africa. Leftists assume, however, that individuals are not responsible for such crime. The place is still racially divided. Now, there is blanket discrimination against all whites – a perfect definition of racism. American elites are silent about the various outrages occurring in South Africa because they support similar policies here.

I will use your logic now: You support racism and economic disaster.

Meh. Maybe I'm wishing Ms. Thatcher a longer life than she'd be statistically likely to enjoy, but what do the actuarial tables say for a 51-year-old, African American smoker? They can't be good.

Besides, he's gotta be thinking about his exit strategy from the wookie.

Seriously, Frankie? Citing Peter King as a Republican source is akin to citing Robert Byrd as a civil rights expert....

They told everyone in the country that wasn't white that they were no longer citizens and that they had to go live in tribes with their own people. They also couldn't be represented in the government, unless they were white, to fight against that. I don't fault anyone for fighting against that.

You are using Communism as the wedge to somehow justify Apartheid.

We live in a country whose revolutionaries were led by the Continental Congress' "armed wing" which was allied with, of all people, the French monarchy. And yes, they would have been jailed for tarring, feathering, and killing British officers.

Of course, perhaps we should just condemn Mandela for the extremes of his youth. Like Augustine of Hippo, right? God forbid we admire such a person (a person who not only changed for the better, but inspired others to change for the better). Ignore the subsequent struggle for grace and the brilliant leadership [like Washington, Mandela left his wide-open throne for the good of all], which just complicates the black and white picture we can paint to simplify and feel even better about our self-righteous selves.
