Racist USC professor caught on video tape

What should society do about openly brazen racists???

'Stupid and Racist’: Video captures professor ranting against Republican Party

By Oliver Darcy and Josiah Ryan, on Apr 10, 2013

A professor at the University of Southern California (USC) appears to have used a fall semester 2012 political science class to deliver sustained and angered attacks on Republicans, who he characterized as old, white, racist, and “losers.”

In a 15 min. video secretly captured by USC student Tyler Talgo, political science Professor Darry Sragow also appears to endorse the illegal suppression of Republican votes.

“California Republicans I just showed you are 30 percent registration in this state because they are really stupid and racist,” he said.” [T]he republican party in California as I say all the time on the record in print on the radio and on tv is the last vestige of angry old white people.”

“Old white guys are stubborn sons of bitches,” he added.

Patteu has now fallen into that weird group of Leftists that think "white bashing" is the only acceptable form of racism left. Criticizing whites as a group is not really racist, don't ya know? Only bashing others.

It's sad watching him reduced to this. Really it is.

Politics ain't tiddlywinks. If someone is talking about groups of people whose goal is to win elections (i.e. the California Grand Old Party) and elections can be usefully modeled by describing whether and how much those groups attract or repel demographic groups, then the acid test is whether or not the analysis is correct, not whether or not some student hiding a video recorder in her sippy cup doesn't like to hear how the professor uses his words. This ain't kindergarten. I'm not exactly sure who is or isn't being hurt by a professor describing up to several months in advance of the event that a party was going to get curbstomped because the party didn't know how to appeal to enough people.

Meanwhile the GOP has governorships, state legislatures and the House of Reps at the Federal level. That's good enough for me. In fact it's better, since the House holds the purse strings. They just don't use their clout.President doesn't control everything.

At a minimum, he's doing his students a disservice by describing the California GOP as being racist as a matter of fact instead of explaining that this is a commonly held misperceptions that will be damaging politically. Of course, he doesn't think it's a misperception because he shares that view. That's what makes him a bad teacher and a bad human being.

It seems to me that it would be difficult to come up with a reliable and valid working definition and way to measure whether or not a political party is racist. Also, it seems that popular perception (as measured, by example, by survey data) would be one of the factors that a working definition would need to rely on. Anyway, whether or not it's possible to decide whether or not the California GOP is racist in fact or instead just as a matter of perception, it is possible to make accurate predictions several months in advance about how badly Republicans will do in California elections among various demographic groups who are not pleased with how GOP policies and officials affect their lives. Here's an article from June, 2012, for example:

Well, it is the People's Republic of California...aka a Moonbat state as perceived of Cali in other states. So of course, Democratic policies are more favored. I say let 'em go broke. They deserve themselves.

If it's hard to determine whether or not a party is racist, that's all the more reason why it's wrong for a teacher to tell his students that the GOP is racist as a matter of fact.

Yeah, it would have been better if he said that the California GOP is perceived as racist by a large enough voters in California that it seriously undermines their chances of winning elections and that the California GOP seems not to be concerned about this major but fixable problem. Summarizing that by saying that the California GOP is "stupid and racist" is just a woeful affront to truth and it might well be a real and present danger to truth's two buddies, apple pie and Chevrolet, for anybody on Earth to explain anything except in very longwinded, politically neutral and excruciatingly nuanced detail. I can see why so many are so upset by this professor's actions.

Or, he could just call it like it is and say that California has a horrible poverty situation and that lends itself to supporting Democrats to "solve" the problem. When Cali's got such a welfare crisis it only makes sense they'll vote for those to continue it. What difference does it make if the GOP is racist or not?
