Another Happy Ending

A would-be robber was shot dead by a person with a concealed handgun license outside a Metro PCS store in Everman on Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect reportedly tried to rob a man in the parking lot outside the store.

The man with the CHL was shot in the arm and the hand by the robber, but the robber was shot multiple times in the chest.

wait...I though CCW laws would mean there would be tons of legally carrying people running around shooting people. I thought I read that once.

the overall them from the media in the last few years was that CCW would increase crime / people would be gunnin' it out like the old west.

which is, of course, retarded.

Hasn't open carry always been legal in most states. I don't disagree with the recent Concealed Carry permitting laws, but why is CCW better than open carry?

Someone came to me when denied CCW because of a disqualifying guilty plea under the Missouri law. It was an old case and not a conviction, since probation was completed without incident, but when Missouri passed concealed carry they included non-conviction guilty pleas for certain offenses as disqualifying for CCW license.

I told him I did not see a way around the way the law was written, but figured that he had the option of open carry if he felt he would be out at a place and time where someone might mess with him.

Seems to me having a visible gun in a holster might be safer for the law-abiding person, because there is less chance anyone would mess with him.

Open carry - criminal knows who to shoot first.

Conceal carry - criminal has no idea who might be armed.

I don't know about that. I thought one argument for concealed carry was that there would be less robberies because people would wonder if the person had a gun or not.

plus, typically Open Carry requires you to carry it unloaded (no round in the chamber). \
not to mention you'll get stopped left and right because of people calling the police since theyh're most likely not aware of any open carry laws.

plus wha Frazod said.

So you think the person who has a visible gun is more likely to have to repel a crime than the random person, unarmed or concealed carry?

it would for me if I was a criminal.

someone had a good analogy once on here about it.
('ll probably butcher it, but you get the point etc)

imagine having 10 oreos laid out on a table; 1 was poisoned. but you had these choice to eat one, or not one at all; what would you choose?

on the other end; if I had 10 oreos, and told you which one was poisoned; then let you decide if you wanted to eat one or not, what you choose.

something to that effect.
