The only person destroying Rose's reputation is Rose himself. Say what you will, he now looks absolutely horrible to everyone outside of Chicago because of the selfish shit he's pulling and how he's letting his teammates down.

Bottom line - he was cleared to play months ago, he started scrimmaging months ago, and his excuses for sitting out get lamer by the week: first it was "I can't dunk off my left foot," and then when he started being able to do that in warmups, it became "only God knows," and when that didn't fly, he suddenly lost his "muscle memory."

He's getting paid over $16mil this year alone, in the second year of a $95mil contract extension. His teammates are puking, limping, and laid up in hospital beds. There's no excuse for him to be sitting on the bench anymore, period.

If I were a Bulls fan, I would be seriously doubting Rose's commitment to the franchise and ability to lead a team, because right now, he's shirking his responsibilities in unprecedented and embarrassing fashion.

Never been a Rose fan, and I think that this 110% proclamation was hilarious, BUT, not only is he coming back from a pretty hardcore injury, he's going to have to do it in the playoffs in an incredibly physical series.

I seriously doubt anybody is laying playoff style hits when he goes through the lane in scrimmages.

If he's not ready, he's not ready. Linas Kleiza and Gilbert Arenas come to mind as guys that came back too soon, and it ****ed up their careers.

The reality is that this bulls team is a less talented one than the one that lost in 5 two years ago. And that Heat team was nothing compared to this year's version. All he's going to do is come back and take a bunch of hard hits in a losing cause. The whole, "I would be out there on one stump" mentality is silly. He's not out saving children from burning fires - he's just playing a damn game.

That said, the media will always crucify a player that they themselves anointed as great when he fails to live up to their expectations. They're already slowly turning on KD and I suppose this is going to be Rose's punishment.

The front office in Chicago should have just shut down the talks a long time ago. Rose is out for the playoffs. period. That way, if he does come back, holy shit, this guy is amazing! Seriously lously PR on the bulls' part.

Rose (shocker), Deng and Hinrich all out again tonight. The Heat are in no way the 96 Bulls or one of the other greatest teams ever assembled but I expect even them to jump all over us tonight smelling blood. They know it's business time.

Iman Shumpert comes to mind as someone who tore his ACL on the same day as Rose and was back by January with no ill effects.

If that's his mentality, the Bulls are screwed, since that would demonstrate a complete lack of competitiveness or leadership on Rose's part.

Maybe I'm just spoiled by getting to watch CP3. He seems to be the last of a dying breed of true floor generals at the point guard position. Nowadays, point guards seem to mostly be undersized shooting guards that lack leadership skills. That's the path Rose appears to be on.

He's stealing money from his employer and not doing his job despite being healthy enough to do it.

Sure, basketball is "just a game," but it's also Rose's JOB.

And by the way, his teammates are out there "on one stump" while he's sitting there fully healthy eating Skittles on the sidelines. No excuse.

He's not exactly stealing money from his employer. I'm pretty sure despite the injury the Bulls are still banking off Rose jersey and merchandise sales.

Someone credible

Far from being disappointed in Derrick Rose for not returning, his Bulls teammates are angry with people who are down on Rose. At least that’s the impression Joakim Noah gave.

``It’s really funny how quick people are to judge,’’ Noah said. `` If you tore your ACL and you have to be the starting point guard and have the expectations that Derrick has, then maybe you can judge. But everybody who hasn’t been in that situation before should really shut up because I feel like it’s just so unfair to him and to this team. We’re fighting, and everybody’s going to just [dump] on somebody who’s been giving so much to this organization. It’s crazy to me.”

A good point. And do people think that employer, who has multiple years invested in him, want him to be at his peak for the next 10 years or a quick burst this playoffs and then a shell of himself? There's a reason the organization isn't putting pressure on him to return.

Rose has played through injuries in the past, he's a team-first guy who loves his city and knows nothing but playing ball. If this were someone else, I'd be questioning the desire. But, Rose's history should give him the benefit of the doubt IMO.

There goes Rose, contradicting himself again...

Quote:
“I haven’t had any pressure from anyone — not in the organization, not from my teammates,” Rose said. “They know I’m putting everything I have into trying to come back as fast as possible. But just trying to be smart with the whole situation and just take my time.

Those are mutually exclusive things. Rose is clearly running out of excuses.

Why do you have an ax to grind here? You're really hammering your point home. His teammates and the org have said nothing derogatory about him, and frankly, they're the only ones that matter.

Yep. The only people trying to make this an issue are the people that don't matter in the basketball world
