If the Chiefs go 8-8 or better 49ers get a 2nd round pick.

A third- or second-rounder from Kansas City, the remnant of the Alex Smith deal. Now it can be told: The second draft choice San Francisco will receive from the Smith deal will be K.C.'s second-rounder in 2014 if the Chiefs go 8-8 or better this season. It will be a third-rounder in 2014 if Kansas City is under .500 this season.

So: San Francisco will probably have first-, second- and four third-rounders next year. But if the Chiefs surprise, it'll more likely be a one, two twos and three threes. As we've seen, GM Trent Baalke is dangerous with extra picks in his hands. If Colin Kaepernick is very good, the Niners should be annual contenders for years with the picks laid out that way.

Who cares if a QB as bad as Smith gets hurt? The sooner he's out, the sooner Reid can move on to Bray.

Can't coach that.

He wasn't good enough to get them to the super bowl the last two years.

He got benched.

he isn't going to have a top five d to lean on either.

Smith has confidence?

Is that why he throws the ball down the field LESS than Cassel?

The first year he almost got them there. Last year he had them 6-2. He won more games in the regular season than Kaepernak did. So there is no way you can credibly say you know they wouldn't have gone to the SB with Smith. Disingenuous but SOP for you, unfortunately.

Actually Alex Smith has physical talent which is why he was drafted high.

his problem has been in the brain

some people think that Harbaugh fixed that

I doubt it

Last year he looked like shit with Daboll.

Pretty sure Andy Reid is known for making QB's look better then they are. But I'm sure you already knew that.
And he STILL shit the bed in the end with Weis. And don't EVEN give me the "well Weis was leaving and it ****ed up the team"-hurt Matty's vagina-bullshit. A REAL QB sucks it up and goes back to work in that situation. **** Matt Cassel; may his name be sticken from every obelisk in Chiefs Nation.

Additionally, Weis's playcalling was pretty solid to halftime.
