Anyone know anything about washing machines?

Got a Samsung front load washing machine that is just sitting there with water in it. If you turn it on it just makes a weird noise like maybe it is trying to run but doesn't do anything. Is that a belt or possibly the motor?

Happens quite often. All you need to do is go to the hardware store and get one of those 8 inch drill bits, 1/4 inch should do. Drill a hole through the back of the washer at the lowest point where it will penetrate the tub. This should let most all the water out.

That's only 1/2 of a solution to a problem...

Is there clothes in the water? If so, get them out. A garden hose works pretty well for siphoning out the water.

You do not want to let that water stagnate.

I have trouble shooting ideas, but I do not wish to open the debate floor.

Lay it on it's back and use it like a normal washer.

I have an LG that goes haywire from time to time. Unplug the washer from the wall, then press the start button. Let it sit unplugged for about 10 minutes then plug it back in. Now try to restart it.

Sometimes the control boards get confused, basically a hard reset.

Is it giving you an error code?

Last time that happened to me it had somehow sucked a baby sock down into the drain and it was plugged. I youtube searched the error code and a 5 minute video and 10 minutes later it was fixed.

Start by cleaning the gunk and coin trap.

if that doesn't do it I'll bet it's the pump.
