Obamacare adds 122,000 diagnostic codes to medical bureaucracy...

Rand Paul claims Obamacare will include diagnostic codes for injuries sustained from a turtle, walking into a lamppost and burning water skis

In a little-noticed speech to the Iowa Republican Party this month, Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul mocked President Obama's signature health care overhaul, noting the 122,000 new medical diagnostic codes doctors will have to use in order to inform the government about injuries sustained by Americans.
Those codes, said Sen. Paul, a medical doctor himself, include line-items for 'injuries sustained from a turtle,' 'walking into a lamppost' and 'injuries sustained from burning water skis.'
Paul has attracted attention in recent weeks for spending time in the Hawkeye State, because it' will be among the first states to weigh in during the 2016 Republican presidential primary season.
As a video of Paul's remarks surfaced Monday on YouTube, news emerged that a CNN/Opinion Research poll showed 54 percent of Americans don't support Obamacare.

SLOW AND STEADY: Obamacare regulations contain two separate doctor diagnosis codes for injuries sustained from turtles. Were you bitten, or did you collide with this slow creature? Uncle Sam wants to know

I guess not

I don't know what purpose these will be used for and I don't agree or disagree with the codes. I was simply rationalizing why a notation system wouldn't work.

Actual codes coming in 2014... but I'm not sure it's fair to blame this on Obamacare. I'm pretty sure these new codes were coming no matter what.

Government creates good. Those who find fault with Obamacare are racists and rich. Shame on you.

We need these codes to compile statictics on what needs to be banned. Especially those troublesome turtles.

Honest question. I don't know shit about coding. It just seems every job, mine included, seems to be getting more difficult.
We have to have all of these codes so we can project the expected cost of treatment, so Medicare and Medicaid can reimburse.

We HAVE to.

blaise's humor is underappreciated by some of his political antagonists, IMO. Good for you for publicly recognizing it.

IMO, he's one of the funniest guys around.
