In a little-noticed speech to the Iowa Republican Party this month, Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul mocked President Obama's signature health care overhaul, noting the 122,000 new medical diagnostic codes doctors will have to use in order to inform the government about injuries sustained by Americans.
Those codes, said Sen. Paul, a medical doctor himself, include line-items for 'injuries sustained from a turtle,' 'walking into a lamppost' and 'injuries sustained from burning water skis.'
Paul has attracted attention in recent weeks for spending time in the Hawkeye State, because it' will be among the first states to weigh in during the 2016 Republican presidential primary season.
As a video of Paul's remarks surfaced Monday on YouTube, news emerged that a CNN/Opinion Research poll showed 54 percent of Americans don't support Obamacare.

SLOW AND STEADY: Obamacare regulations contain two separate doctor diagnosis codes for injuries sustained from turtles. Were you bitten, or did you collide with this slow creature? Uncle Sam wants to know

Actual codes coming in 2014... but I'm not sure it's fair to blame this on Obamacare. I'm pretty sure these new codes were coming no matter what.

What happens if you're once bitten, but then become twice as shy?

But seriously, WTF. Doctors should be doctors. Now they have to be MBAs too just to run a damn medical practice.

The problem is that doctor's office now have to hire office managers who are solely devoted to figuring out coding. These office managers are salaried employees that cost money. Same bullshit as small community banks having to hire lawyers to figure out how to comply with Dodd-Frank. Ever wonder why private practices are disappearing?

The second problem is that doctors don't know what the **** to do. What's covered? What's not covered? Doctors should rely on their education and expertise to treat problems.

The third problem is that it makes it impossible for either the doctor or patient to know how expensive the care should be. Imagine if you had to go to a grocery store and instead of bar codes and price tags, every single item in the grocery store had a 7-digit code you had to either memorize or look up in a manual.

OK, a little reality: These "new" "Obamacare codes" predate Obama by many years and are not in any way specific to or related to the Affordable Care Act. Sorry, but this dates back to Bush.

In a press release from August 15, 2008, Bush’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) wrote that it had issued rules to implement “a long-awaited proposed regulation that would replace the ICD-9-CM code sets now used to report health care diagnoses and procedures with greatly expanded ICD-10 code sets, effective Oct. 1, 2011. (the 2011 date has been delayed a couple of times and is now set for sometime in 2014)

By blaming this on Obamacare, Paul deliberately lied to you about this. I'm sure you'll keep that in mind next time he spouts off about something.

To pretend this is an invention of the Bush administration is a bold faced lie, you sniveling Obama-Anus-Wormcrawler.

This is an invention of the World Health Organization, and the Bush administration resisted it's implementation as long as it could.

Naturally the WHO, an invention of the U.N., is too much to resist for an administration trying to give the sovereignty of the United States away to a world government...
