PFF Examines QB Pressure Under Play - See If You Agree

Check out this article by PFF examining QB's play under pressure.

No surprise Drew Brees is listed best in a clean pocket.

They show Aaron Rodgers as best under pressure. But Brees is damn good too.

See what you think.

I didn't really pay too much attention but probably has something to do with the fact he never takes risks, so his completion percentage doesn't drop under pressure, and he doesn't throw INTs.

Just dump it off baby!

Another stat proving Cassel is who we thought he was. Good riddance. At least Smith isn't part of the lower end. Crawling back in my hole now.

Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle notes via Stats Inc. that only Tom Brady has a higher QB rating against the blitz this season. Smith has completed 18 of 24 passes for 229 yards with two touchdowns for a 132 rating.

This was 2011. I don't know what it was for 2012, but his QB rating was significantly higher in 2012 than it was in 2011..so I imagine that it was the same or better.

Someone who knows nothing about football gives his opinion and it includes "I really didn't pay too much attention".

Shocker Clay, shocker.

One of the biggest misnomers of Alex Smith is that he is a "safe qb" who dumps it off a lot. % of passes to hbs is less than the average of the league. His ypa last year was among the best last year. He plays safe and smart with the ball, but that doesn't mean he isn't getting the ball down field.

I'd love for someone to provide some statistical evidence to support that Alex Smith dumps balls off more than the average NFL qb.
