The Take on Snowdon beginning to clarify

Time will tell if the guy is a nutcase or if he was just misguided. But he is in some very serious trouble and the government has to prosecute with a great deal of vigor.

I found this a good read....http://theothermccain.com/2013/06/11...nt-government/

One part:

Is there such a shortage of common sense that people no longer have any ordinary kind of skepticism? A high-school dropout flies to Hong Kong, claims he was paid $200,000 a year and the people who hired him say he exaggerated that by $80,000, and yet you’re telling me that everything else Snowden said was true?

Liars lie, and braggarts brag, and kooks are crazy for Cuckoo Puffs.

This computer geek had a six-figure salary and a hot girlfriend — if you like the skinny long-legged blonde ballerina acrobat type — and yet, his life in Hawaii wasn’t exciting enough for him, so he decides to become an international fugitive from justice.

Way to go, World Famous Douchebag.

Andy Warhol just called to say your 15 minutes are over.

No, of course there's nothing wrong with it. But given the fact that people have accused you of believing in a fictional alternative history, it plays right into their hands that you say that historical fiction is a favorite genre of yours. It's no big deal, you like what you like.

I did get you were making that connection...I just felt it needed to be restated that it's not non-fiction. Generally, I prefer non-fiction for reading material than entertainment. I think you're referring to what people label "revisionist history" as if it's changing facts, when it's more adding omitted facts.

Actually, I like romantic historical fiction more.

I know that people tend to roll their eyes when they hear about it from HR, but if you include the value of his entire benefits package, possible pension or other contributions to retirement, medical, vacation, etc it would come a lot closer to 200k, enough to just round up.

Snowden said, “a salary of roughly $200,000.”

How does a contractor get those benefits?

I think it's been the military that's been desperate for recruits actually. They've even hired gang members and illegals with a promise of citizenship. Some recruiters have even been caught lying.

Snowden was paid by his employer, Booz Allen. He almost certainly had a very nice benefits package in addition to his salary. He wasn't like the run-of-the-mill independent contractor who works for salary alone.

Even though his salary was reportedly in the low $100k range, the government probably paid a lot more than that for his services. Maybe as much as 3 or 4 times that amount.

You mean part of his pay was off-the-record?

I know a dude that was a private contractor working in the Green Zone of Iraq for Halliburton. Not even a college grad, getting huge bucks like that of Snowden. Plus they were eating steak and lobster over there regularly enough.

No, I mean that his employer gets a big cut. Snowden got his salary and benefits. The rest was profit (and overhead) for the firm.
