Paybacks are Hell. Fema turns down rest of $ for Texas Blast town

This looks bad. $7 mill and change is all they will get.

The law doesn't allow for that, nor should it.

This. The company and insurance are certainly liable, but we all know that the money they should pay will take months/years to be paid out.

FEMA is meant to provide for some uninsured (or underinsured) losses.

This company probably has a really huge liability policy, but the damage can't be estimated and paid for instantaneously.

If the state or the feds want to loan them the money, thats fine, but that would have to be done outside of FEMA.

But, but....then, the shareholders and this poor, poor chemical company's profits, dividends, and bottom-line would be harmed.

People like HCF and other rightwing nutjobs insist that individuals should be more accountable and suffer the consequences of their decisions and actions, but not companys or their shareholders. Uh-huh--no-sir-eee. Can't hold them to the same standard, now....can we???

Consider it my attempt to pay it forward. You are welcome!

I lean conservative, and I have no problems with holding the insurance company accountable in this instance. I also am not a big fan of seeing people suffer, so I am okay with FEMA helping out too.

As too comments about not living in areas with tornadoes/hurricanes/etc.....no place is safe, where would you suggest? The East Coast/Southeast is out due to hurricanes, the Midwest is tornado country, and the West Coast is going to fall into the ocean someday when the big quake hits.
