Obamacare is postponed one year for...

...large corporations.

ObamaCare is still going into effect in 2014, but one key component of it is being temporarily shelved. The White House today postponed by one year a rule requiring employers to either provide coverage to employees or face hefty fines, reports the Wall Street Journal. The rule will take effect in 2015, instead of 2014...

It is better to duck the rising premium during the election year. Smart move!

The SCOTUS decides what is constitutional, not you.

Where did you get that idea? The 37 times they voted to repeal it?

Like it or not its here to stay. SCOTUS says its constitional. You need 60 votes in the Senate and the Presidency to repeal. And with the Republican party in a demographic death spiral, that ain't going to happen ever.

The sooner that they realize its better to improve Obamacare, the better for us all.

Roberts made the right call, there's nothing in Article I Section 8 that prevents Congress from levying taxes to pay for the general welfare. In fact, that's exactly what it says word for word. If Americans don't want to pay for that tax, they can easily replace their reps. (As Roberts noted)

But it was Pelosi and Reid that did Obama's bidding....so you can't just blame Obama. Presidents themselves, aren't allowed to create legislation.

I understand the mechanics but Obama signed the bill. Without his signature, it wasn't law. Therefore he was 1/2 the equation. Furthermore he openly campaigned on it in 2012 and was re-elected. If Romney was elected, he could submit budgets that don't include funding for Obamacare and only the Senate would be able to block it. (Too bad the Dems had full control in 2010 when the abortion happened)

Not sure you read the ruling. 1, it said that the tax portion of it is legal under Article 1 but that this tax can be repealed anytime. (Roberts essentially said withold funding if you dislike the bill and that is what the GOP is trying to do).

2, they struck down the mandatory expansion of Medicaid portion of the bill. Wihtout this mechanism to expand reach, Obamacare won't really work anyway. So no, SCOTUS didn't simply rule in favor of Obama's plan although you O-Bots think they did.

But if it is a tax, then it must originate in the House, and Roberts ignored this.
/BEP

But the bill that became Obamacare DID originate in the House. The SC has ruled on situations like this before.

And besides, the Cons. refers to a bill "for raising revenue" and the SC has several times said that "for raising revenue" means that the revenue must be the main reason for the bill, and not incidental.

We've had this conversation before.

Your points are correct Cosmo. Now, if you can spend some of your limitless energy explaining to fellow Libs that the SCOTUS didn't settle the issue that would be helpful. Obama held a press conference saying that exact word. Settled. Why the Press didn't call him out for it, is amazing.

Yup. Which is why not all of the provisions are held up another year. Get as much in before the midterms.

Did someone just "Deem" that this is going to be postponed?

Was there a paragraph in the 11tybillion pages that gives Joe the Plumber power to hold/push through any parts that he wants?

This was passed. It needs to happen now.

Let's make one thing clear. Obamacare does not make anything better for me or my family. Nothing. Not now, not tomorrow, not in 50 years. It makes it worse. More for us to pay now and less benefits when we normally would have gotten from medicare in the future.

This pie in the sky idea that the average middle class working man is going to benefit in the long run is total bull shit.

Wellll I'm a middle class worker. Here's how I have or will benefit....
  1. No pre-existing conditions.
  2. No cap on benefits. If I or a member of my family need to battle cancer, they will get the help they need.
  3. Insurance companies can't drop me or my family if we get sick.
  4. Carrying my 21 year old son on my health insurance. He may never need it but he gets in a car wreck and in the hospital for a couple of days, he could rack up some serious debt. Not a good way to start out life. One less thing to worry about as a parent.
  5. Insurance companies have to spend at least 80% of all revenue on healthcare. If they go over, we get a refund. I've already got two checks, one for $325 and another for $110.
  6. A shitload of preventive services will be free. Googled the list.http://www.uspreventiveservicestaskf...uspsabrecs.htm
Thats better than what I got right now. Better than most working people will ever get from their insurance plan withotu Obamacare passing.

Why doesn't the items in this list benefit you or your family?
