In honor of our Nation's birthday, and as a result of the fact that the majority of Americans who use the constitution as a shield and have no idea what most of it actually says...I propose a discussion. Each day, we'll read, review and discuss 1 section of the constitution and the bill of rights.

During the time this document was created, I don't think anyone can reasonably argue that "general welfare" had anything to do with free food, rent, electric bills and obama phones.

"General Welfare" had more to do with the state of the Nation and it's needs to serve it's citizens.

As usual, Cosmo is wrong. The founders are pretty clear that there is intent to a Republic that allows men to take care of one's self. There is nothing that indicates socialism.
