What are Liberals teaching their children?

Here's an insight, from photos taken at a pro-abortion rally in Texas to support Wendy Davis:

The pro-abortion protests outside the state capitol in Austin have produced a variety of offensive signs and slogans — but perhaps none more offensive than activists yelling “Hail Satan” as pro-lifers sang “Amazing Grace.”

Sorry, I did not intend to say that you had literally said that, just that that is the idea you were talking about. That non-religious people can change their belief to fit the situation. So in theory, there would he no moral barriers to stop them doing anything, because they do not believe in God. My point, however, was that non-religious people have moral despite not believing in God and that these morals are the barriers for said non-religious people.

And you trot out the same old ethnocentric argument religious people always use to demonize non-believers.

I don't enjoy a relationship with a church/mosque/temple/religious gathering because I have seen nothing to lead me to believe a god/gods/higher power exists, and everything I can observe and learn about this world/universe leads me to believe that if a god/gods/higher power DOES exist, it/they don't look anything like the popular concepts of them. My non-belief has nothing to do with finding a reason to "Not enjoy a relationship with a church."

Here are some things you are not thinking about:

1) Assuming that "secular" folks don't have a foundation for morality. THis is provided by the society in which you live. If you are a member of a secular community, you assimilate the morals of that community. There are some natural laws that must be observed for a community to exist and flourish. This is why the ancient world had mores that were cultural universals despite having very different regional religions.

2) Claiming those who don't have religious beliefs change their morals on a whim. This is insulting and patently false, at least as applied to the general non-religious population. Moral codes and beliefs don't change on the spot, unless you are a psychopath/sociopath.

I will say that "secularists" are more open to changing the beliefs and ideas that shape their morals, however, because they are more willing to accept new evidence and experiences that affect their belief system.

For example, I am staunchly pro-choice. But if science proved that a child's consciousness is present from conception, I would sharply reverse this belief for moral reasons.

Let's also not act like religious folks don't change their morals based on evidence and experience. Rob Portman is an example of a religious person changing his opinion on a "moral" issue (homosexuality/same sex marriage) pretty much instantly based on personal experience and evidence (his son coming out to him).

You have to support your position somehow. Rather than look at the merits, keep tearing at that that you do not believe in nor understand. The beauty of it is that people of faith spend far far less time than secularists in the work of tearing down. Rather, we are open to accepting you and welcoming you when the time is right.

As offensive as it is involving children in this shit, none of this is anywhere as bad as the ****ing pricks who hold up giant dead fetus posters, and they have little kids doing that shit, too. There are few things that infuriate me as much as being subjected to that on the way home from work.

Personally, I'd like to take the extremists on both sides of this issue and toss them in a pit with a bunch of rusty AKs and a stack of surplus ammo and let them have it, then drown whoever's left.

Condescend much? Next post you're going to talk about how you're praying for me, right?

I'm not doing any tearing down, buddy. I'm defending against the ethnocentric and insulting comments you made in post #15, and responding to your assumption that my non-belief stems from trying to find a reason NOT to believe.

Religion is not the sole arbiter of morality in the world. Cultural universals would not be a sociological reality, if all morality could only truly be derived from a religion. Each society/religion would have had its completely unique set of morals, if man wasn't adopting some of the common morals needed to civilize and survive.

The two worst human beings I have known - by far - were very religious. One was a pastor/child molestor. The other was an extremely devout Christian who committed fraud against the U.S. govt. and his clients, engaged in multiple affairs and had bastard kids he didn't support, embezzled money, and generally lied his face off for years.

One of the best human beings I know is also very religious. She's inspirational to me, in fact, even though I don't share her faith.

My point: Religion and morality are separate ideals. Each is possible without the other.

This goes on on both sides...

Using children as pawns is absolutely horrible, regardless of which side you are on.....

Your title is misleading, because there are PLENTY of lame ass parents on both sides of this issue, and many issues who use children to advance their agendas.

Agreed.

Let's forget the AKs, though. Rusty machetes would be much more brutal - and entertaining to observe.

Why do "conservatives" do it? I would imagine that the answer is that people are stupid. It is interesting that you chose to focus only on one side, though.
