Newsflash: the POTUS is a communist, affirmative action half-wit who doesn't have the first clue what he's doing.

Did anyone not think this was going to happen? Seriously?

Our country is way past the point of a little help. It's now a way of life in exchange for votes. If it was only short term food help in a time of need, I'd probably be in support of it, however it has been abused and is now a complete dependency system that covers rent, food, cell phones, utilities, childcare, and on and on. It has become an entire net, one that rewards laziness, regardless of reason, last forever and provides no incentive to get off of.

Federal budget and Census data show that, in 2010, 91 percent of the benefit dollars from entitlement and other mandatory programs went to the elderly (people 65 and over), the seriously disabled, and members of working households. People who are neither elderly nor disabled — and do not live in a working household — received only 9 percent of the benefits.

Clearly, the solution is to cut food stamps.

Thanks, Congress!

Personally I think throwing SS and Medicare dollars into the number of Americans using food assistance mix is irrelevant.

"food insecure" = "economically ass-raped by Obama"

Try that one instead, Caveman.
News flash, kiddos, the term predates 2008.

Quote:
Food insecurity is limited or uncertain availability of nutritionally adequate and safe foods or limited or uncertain ability to acquire acceptable foods in socially acceptable ways.

(Definitions are from the Life Sciences Research Office, S.A. Andersen, ed., "Core Indicators of Nutritional State for Difficult to Sample Populations," The Journal of Nutrition 120:1557S-1600S, 1990.)

food aid equates to about $1.00 , per meal ($3.00 a day) if you get $100 a month.....

If you only get $50 a month it is about 50 cents per meal

if you get $180 a month its $2.00 per meal

I personally don't know anyone who is single and getting 877$ per month SS that gets the Maximum....everyone I know gets around 50 bucks, on a little debit card. If you do not get SS then you can get closer to the maximum of 2 dollars per meal, from what I understand.

The people who I know who get the 50$ use it towards the end of the month when their $877 social security runs out.

Personally I would cut a shit ton of other programs before I cut the nutrition program....and I would add anti-fraud and punish people who tried to cheat.... but I wouldnt out right end nutrition programs...

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever, to 101 million people.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us "Please Do Not Feed the Animals." Their stated reason for the policy is because "The animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Thus ends today's lesson in irony.
