The climate of the past decade. Anybody want to guess where it ranks historically?

Did you guess warmest since we've recorded it? Because you're right.

According to the World Meteorological Association's recent report on the past decade's climate.

Here's the forward/summary.

The chart:

We haven't had a climate brouhaha in a while.

What's our line these days, conservatives?

We believe climate change exists, right? Do we agree that humans are the preeminent cause?

Do you have any ideas you personally subscribe to as to what can/should be done?

I think it is scientifically possible to prove that the climate is on a warming or cooling trend and it wouldn't surprise me to see it happen.

What I do argue is the idea that man is doing it. The entire globe has transitioned many times and due to many reasons. Deserts were once oceans and lush jungles, without those events fossil fuels don't exist. North America has endured at least 3 ice ages which are obviously not an issue now.

Change happens. It is up to humans to adapt.

Why do any of you bother discussing this with him? He has made it VERY CLEAR that he has zero interest in the science itself. He has never once bothered to do any significant research on the subject. Direckshun cares about ONE THING in this regard... pushing forward his agenda. Anyone want to take bets on whether he actually read the report? Does he even know who the WMO is? (apparently not since he called them the World Meteorological ASSOCIATION)

Why bother arguing with a religious zealot? That's all he is on this topic. Facts be damned ... he BELIEVES!!! AL GORE ALMIGHTY HE BELIEVES!

For those of you who are genuinely interested in the subject and not simply pushing for a singular agenda... here are some things you may want to know.

The WMO is a POLITICAL organization formed by the UN. This doesn't invalidate anything they publish but it is worth keeping it in mind. These are the guys who formed the IPCC. The IPCC has been KNOWN to "adjust" data and selectively remove entire sets of data with the sole purpose of achieving a preconceived result.

Another issue to consider on this report is that they are purposely misleading you by aggregating the data into a "per decade" bar graph. That isn't done to make it easier for you to read or understand it. It's done because the last decade has seen stagnate temperature growth and if you go year by year it's very clear. If the temps stay stagnant the next report in 2020 will decide it's better to use every TWENTY years as an interval...

I can go into how the whole CO2 issue is WAY overblown (methane on the other hand could be a very real problem). I can also show that there has yet to be ONE.. NOT ONE climate model that has proven itself to be predictive. All of this has been covered in other threads where facts and figures have been linked to. But don't try to tell that to Direckshun, the deeply religious zealots go off FAITH not facts.

If it weren't for global warming, my home would be under a glacier. Care to dispute that?

By the way, I started recording volume levels in my neighborhood over the past 10 days. The last 48 hours has been the loudest in the history of my records. I blame humans.

You'd better get your city hall to consider immediate remedial action, no matter what the cost. If this trend continues it could get ugly.

Strange...it was really loud here five days ago. Loud booming sounds...got worse after the sun went down.

I don't want it to be a politically enforced matter. The government will **** it up.

As for how.. there have been some ideas thrown around that might work. Easiest solution would be to sacrifice an ocean and create a photoplankton bloom the size of Texas.

It's already been tested. LOL...

Whoa.

Even widespread fertilization of the oceans would result in about 0.5 to 1 gigaton of carbon being shuttled out of the atmosphere annually, Smetacek said. That's about a third to a quarter of the carbon added to the atmosphere each year from man-made and other sources. Many scientists would rather see humans stop producing carbon in the first place, a strategy known as mitigation.

"There's 18 reasons why it might be a bad idea; the solution to global warming is mitigation, it's not geoengineering," Alan Robock, a climate scientist at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., told LiveScience in 2010. "If anybody thinks this is a solution to global warming, it will take away what push there is now toward mitigation." [8 Ways Global Warming Is Changing the World]

Kind of nice of him to admit his agenda, though.
