The Top 20% Have No Idea How The Bottom 40% Get By

July 17th, 2013

In a financial planning guide for its workers, the company accidentally illustrates precisely how impossible it is to scrape by on a fast food paycheck

http://www.theatlantic.com/business/...m-wage/277845/

How McDonald’s workers CAN’T live on their minimum wages: Fast food giant sets up website to help their employees budget better… and it recommends they get a second job

Suggested monthly expenses for the hypothetical McDonald’s employee working a 40-hour week include $600 for rent – a figure that has raised eyebrows among anyone familiar with the housing market in cities like New York and Philadelphia.

While it is still possible to find housing with three-digit rent in some parts of the U.S., an average apartment in Manhattan rents for about $3,000 a month. Even in the outer boroughs it is nearly impossible to come across anything cheaper than $1,400 a month.

That's not deflation dipshit. It is technological advancement. Deflation is a decline in the general price level.

THAT is not a formula for equal opportunity for American's to live the dream, and 9 out of every 10 American's agree with me. You know who doesn't? Well, the 1% of course. And a few jaded morons who think that somehow, someway they're going to eventually join a club that doesn't want them, won't invite them, and will do anything they can to keep them out. Don't be a ****ing foot shuffling porter. I'm not advocating socialism, I'm advocating a FAIR system that compensates all Americans that are willing to put in a 40 hour work week with a living wage.

The only thing that I think will ever fix this is a full, and true audit of the Fed. If people saw and understood how this institution works, I think they'd wake up. But even then there would be pain. There are no easy answers at this point. I think we're on the proverbial slow boat to China.

You'll never get anything like that in a Keynesian economic system. Eventually the system becomes so skewed by the politicians that no sense can be made of it.

How dare you challenge the 1%'s bodyguards/workerdrones. Pawnmower obviously stays up late nights worrying about the safety and security of rich folks money. Im sure they fight to make sure he makes a living wage. they worry too about his job security and ability to make a living wage..why else would he defend the rich and bash those living on the bubble ffighting for equality.

The system is skewed by politicians now. Only they are owned by the 1 percent. Who then have them push policies that benefit the 1 percent.

Humans aren't people my friend, only Corporations are People.

This country already saw a massive redistribution of wealth. They took it from 80 percent of Americans and gave it to the top percent. Who is they? The top Percent and the government cronies they own.

The GOP welcomes you to the American Plutocracy.

More than anything, I think another problem is the way technology has automated a lot of lower paying jobs. Like I've said before, this problem doesn't get solved as long as our educational system is a joke and if our private sector businesses would rather increase executive pay rather than train their works to develop and better themselves.

The big problem here is that the left wants to enable poor people to mooch off the government for benefits, and the right sticks to this flawed notion that poor people can't claw their way out of poverty even if they tried. Rather than trying to redistribute wealth, we should be focusing on getting lower-level employees the skill sets to better their situations. That benefits both the lower class, but also benefits the country as a whole because we then build a more skilled labor force.
