Girlfriend declines baseball game marriage proposal

Ouch

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/news...-proposal.html

Baseball fans unexpectedly witnessed a painfully awkward moment at the New Britain Rock Cats minor league game in Connecticut last week.

The announcer brought a couple onto the pitch and told the crowd that David had a question to ask his girlfriend Jessica.

"Will you marry me Jessica?" David asks, getting down on one knee.
Anticipating a romantic moment, the crowds starts to cheer - until they see that Jessica isn't exactly looking elated.

"David, I'm sorry, I can't," she says before running off.

The awkward moment is compounded when the announcer starts laughing.
"Sorry, I don't mean to laugh. David, I don't think we've ever had this happen before," he tells the crest-fallen boyfriend.

The public rejection appears too much for David who then follows his girlfriend in running off the pitch.

Let's hope that the next marriage proposal at the New Britain Rock Cats stadium has a happier ending.

You want me to link you to an article saying that rejected proposals during ball games are fake?

Seriously?

Only if you feel your statement is not 100% correct.

Why? Seriously, you have a bunch of people watching a minor league game, why would some team executive think "You know, I'll bet if we have a fake proposal rejection in the middle of the game that makes people feel awkward and sad, that it will really help marketing!"

I just don't see the point of that.

you might not see the point in that but its a running trend. anything for a viral hit on youtube these days. just youtube fake marriage proposals and there are a lot more vids of some terrible acting. Also the team's exec doesn't know it could be fake or not. I've given some fake announcements to officials for birthdays at ball games. a buddy of mine turned 30 and we put it was his 40th. its pretty easy.

Definitely fake. The guy proposing was practically busting up laughing. Also, the girl would not wait and tell him into the ****ing mic. She'd pull him aside. The whole thing seems poorly faked. Don't know if the stadium people were in on it or if the couple was pulling a prank, but no way was that real.

well, there's always a chance she's gonna say "no" so you can't be upset if you spring this question on her in front of 10k people and she says "no".

There are a lot of similar videos on Youtube. Johnny Vegas is right - This is a gag that's becoming a trend at a lot of sporting events. It's like the halfcourt shot contest, weenie races, whatever. A lot of teams/stadiums do it.

You really liken hot dog races to staging emotional strife?
