Georgia GOP: Paula Deen > MLK

I wonder if any of the respondents knew they were being trolled.....

Quote:
According to a new poll by the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling, Republicans in Georgia have a more favorable opinion of Paula Deen than they do of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Favorability ratings with Georgia Republicans: Paula Deen 73/11, Martin Luther King Jr. 59/28

Deen, of course, was dropped by the Food Network after admitting that “yes, of course” she used the N-word, and amid other allegations of racism by former employees.

How can you know if someone is a good person because she has some critics? Everyone has some critics. Even saints had them. And everyone has faults too.
How am I contradicting myself? Cooper and Deen both used racial slurs that were scrutinized. I don't think either of those were a big deal, nor have I made an issue of that in this thread.

My reasons for thinking she's a bad person have been stated already. I don't need to explain them again, and no it's not because she has critics. At the very least, I find it surprising people have a favorable rating on her. Based on what? What has she done to earn that?

I agree with what you're saying, but I have a small objection to the way you're saying it. Too much butter can be bad for you, but butter itself isn't terrible for you if you limit your intake.

Most foods are good for you if eaten in moderation. Most foods are bad for you if eaten to excess. It's just that the difference between moderation and excess varies from food to food and from person to person. A high

I'd say I 'miss' it, but I'm fairly sure I have all episodes memorized, at the very least all central lessons.

I did not start watching him until later in his show. Before there it was here and there. Now that I've been watching Food Network a lot, I was hoping to find it again but it's gone. The DVDs for his whole show is $250. Now everything is war on cupcakes, between chefs, chopped, dives or impossible restaurants and mystery diners.

Can MLK make me a pot pie? NO, because he's dead.

Therefore, Paula Deen > MLK.

100% true, its all about moderation and portion.

I'm just glad her book shot straight to #1, if everyone who'd ever said something bad 20 years ago was buried like she's been, there wouldnt be anyone left in america.

Unless one's blood Type is more suited to a paleo diet. Then butter, not in moderation, as well as cream and animal fat are good for you and will lower that LDL cholesterol. Yup!

Look, there is personal responsibility for those who cook recipes. But it is common knowledge that her recipes are off-the-charts unhealthy, and her desserts (which are harder to go off-recipe) typically have multiple sticks of butter and cups upon cups of sugar. There is no doubt her recipes contributed to her own diabetes. Given the popularity of her show and cookbooks, probably to others' diabetes as well.

You don't have to hate her for that. I hate her because I have a closer connection to the cause. But the moderation defense is silly. She has the right to choose her own path, but she chose the path to be unapologetic about how unhealthy her food is. She shouldn't be martyred for it as she is by her apologists.

You mean the southern diet then. Haven't you ever been to south or worked there for a bit? Tea is uber sweet. Plenty is cooked in lard including vegetables. Stop being willfully ignorant.

Let's not put in all on Paula Deen. She represents the cooking of her home geography.

Oh, **** off. Her food tastes good, that's the only test it has to pass. I don't care if you and others like you have no willpower.

Id enjoy a dinner with MLK.
Cooked by Paula.
So all you asswipes who seem to think ever goddamn thing in the world is a racial statement could feel your head explode.

Martin, Paula and I would enjoy that.
