Georgia GOP: Paula Deen > MLK

I wonder if any of the respondents knew they were being trolled.....

Quote:
According to a new poll by the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling, Republicans in Georgia have a more favorable opinion of Paula Deen than they do of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Favorability ratings with Georgia Republicans: Paula Deen 73/11, Martin Luther King Jr. 59/28

Deen, of course, was dropped by the Food Network after admitting that “yes, of course” she used the N-word, and amid other allegations of racism by former employees.

I usually think that you and chiefzilla1501 are pretty non-whacko people. I'm going to do you guys a favor and try to forget this thread ever happened.

Everyone who makes cars makes cars that they know are going to maim and kill people. But they go ahead and do it anyway. Disgusting, huh?
If an executive for an auto manufacturer knowingly made cars SIGNIFICANTLY less safe when he/she had the opportunity to make it safer, and then had the audacity to profit off that person's lifelong illness or injury, then he/she is a piece of shit too. I get what you're trying to say, but we are talking about a person who knowingly made her product significantly less safe then knowingly profited off of treating the lifelong illness of those she made sick.

But right now, it's a hypothetical. Most auto manufacturers try really hard to make the safest cars they can or at least create quality standards. Of those that don't, I'm sure most of those people aren't profiting off of accident victims.

I thought you were pretty non-whacko, but going out of your way to defend behavior that is clearly unethical makes me reconsider. Her behavior is just not worth your effort to defend her.

I'm not sure but I think you just called me a misogynists so let me clear this up: I don't hate women.

Unfortunately, your eyes are special eyes. Some may call them magic. Magic because only magic eyes can lead a person to conclude I dislike the woman because she's a woman and shield your eyes that Republicans in the south might dislike MLK because he was a black civil rights leader that lead the march to equality.

That being said, I could care less about Paula Deen. All I heard was she a racist bitch and found the comparison between the two ridiculous. Take this away and what has she done besides bake?

Yup. That's comparable to a great leader.

Paula Deen didn't make her product "less safe". She makes food just like thousands, if not millions of other people in this country and around the world. She makes food that a lot of people like to eat. Most of those people won't develop diabetes, by the way.

Cars could be a lot safer (e.g. just think of how safe a car with a max speed of 10 mph would be), but then they wouldn't be cars that a lot of people want to drive.

I don't know whether you hate women or not, but hatefully referring to them as bitches for no apparent reason isn't a good way to convince me that you don't.

She is essentially profiting off of other people getting diabetes.

There are better people to defend than her. She is just not a good person.
Seriously, anyone who knows health and nutrition doesn't cook her way, buy her books or watch her show. That's what personal responsibility is in a free society. That's how it works.

It's just that the food of the south happens to be loaded with fat and southern black people cook like this too. Are you gonna call black chefs or cooks pieces of shit too? How 'bout the French who eat cream, butter and cheese? Not all Deens' recipes are loaded with fat and sugar either. On the other hand, I rarely see you calling out medical doctors and pharmaceutical firms for pushing the same drugs. Or the big food companies for over-processing their flours, that Paula bakes with or other packaged foods. You're a hypocrite.

Don't like her recipes for health reasons? Don't buy her books or watch her show. It's really very simple.
I'll bet you have faults too.

Boy this got hijacked. Something bad about her must be attacked.

Just to get somewhat back on track:

Since Obama's policies are failing the country, we can always look for racists under our beds...and especially in the GOP.

If doctors and pharma firms pushed unhealthy recipes and gave advice to not stay in shape, then endorsed those drugs, then they are pieces of shit.

Most doctors I know try hard to make their patients better. But yeah, of course if they push bad advice that actually makes people sicker in order to make an extra buck, then they are pieces of shit too.

I don't see that Deen thinks she's there to make people healthier but to enjoy food. In fact, I don't see that with most chefs. It's even the high-end gourmet restaurants, more than the fast-food places that are loaded with fat in their dishes. They must be shits too.

I don't agree with doctors making people healthier, at least in general, they treat diseases more. The bigger reason for the epidemic of diabetes in this country, is ignorance. The second is the govt food pyramid.

It's still up to each individual to learn as much as they can on their own about nutrition and health. Knowledge is power. Than the bad food vendors will have to change.
