Why do you say that?

Our physics models certainly can't explain everything that happens inside a black hole. But that doesn't make what happens in a black hole illogical.

Quote:
Stephen Hawking explained that just because a measurement system breaks down does not mean that the underlying physics are invalid. Our system of measuring latitude and longitude gets really screwy near the Earth's poles, but you don't fall off the Earth if you walk there. Thus, just because we can't accurately describe what the inside of a black hole looks like, that doesn't mean that general relativity is "wrong" in general or even in its predictions about black holes.

Our physics models certainly can't explain God. But that doesn't make the existence of God illogical.

It's not that the existence of God is illogical, IMO. It's that the nature of God isn't necessarily logical. Logic limits some humans, but it's egotistical to imagine that it limits a limitless God. That's nothing more than an attempt to create a God that is as weak as we are.

Does that say something about our physics models, or our idea of a God? Our physics models show incredible repeatable accuracy for explaining a considerable portion of the universe. But no model exists that can begin to explain a supernatural being. We've never seen any evidence for a supernatural being.

I think the existence of a God is very improbable, but not illogical. But the existence of a personal God as described in the Bible is definitely quite illogical.

What we don't know could fill the Universe, yet we think we have it mostly figured out...or some of us do.

Is it possible that time could go really REALLY almost imperceptibly slow at the exact center of a singularity?

Is it possible that the entire universe is centered around a lone massive singularity, so massive that time actually stops?

Is it possible that this point (for all practicality) could be "outside of time" as we know it because if time was stopped or going that slow, time wouldnt be too much of a factor?

I guess my main point is that so many people (even smart ones) seem to think "God" and science can't coexist in beauty and harmony.....and for me this is not proven. Yes I also understand it isn't proven that "God" exists, either...of course.

The finest emotion of which we are capable is the mystic emotion. Herein lies the germ of all art and all true science. Anyone to whom this feeling is alien, who is no longer capable of wonderment and lives in a state of fear may as well be dead. To know that what is impenetrable for us really exists and manifests itself as the highest wisdom and the most radiant beauty, whose gross forms alone are intelligible to our poor faculties — this knowledge, this feeling ... that is the core of the true religious sentiment. In this sense, and in this sense alone, I rank myself among profoundly religious men.
I guess I will be guilty of appealing to experts if I claim this quote as absolute truth, so I will merely say that I agree with this gentleman's position. He is only a simple postal worker though.

Say you write a really kickass computer program, akin to The Matrix. You can tweak the physics however you want and those within the program must adhere to those physics. But you don't have to. You can break the rules or not, communicate or not with the program's inhabitants. Is that illogical? Is the programmer non-personal by definition?

Now imagine a really kickass computer program writing itself.

My personal tastes are more towards the thickness but I love that middle girl's torso and how she moves it.
