Rodeo clowns are taking it in the pants these days too. But then, it's always kind of been that way.

1.) The amount of death from violence per 1000 population has been going down since the start of the 20th Century. Yes despite WW 1 and 2 and Afganistan, Iraq, Iran, Korea and Africa and even the violence of Cambodia or Vietnam. People are overall less likely to be physically accosted and killed.

2) The size of families on all continents (except Africa) is moving toward Western Society statistics of smaller units. This is a result of increase income and material goods and the dropping of infant mortality negating needing larger families. Along with this the child is the focus rather than the adult utilizing the child's efforts for themselves.

3) We are only 300 years into the scientific revolution and notion of progress. Up until the that time most societies thought that life was static. The change seen was miniscule on the stage of one's lifetime. That has changed. Not all of life or even handedly in change but the changes come at a faster clip and overall for the better. (See above)

4) We are stepping into space nicely. The US has handed off space flight to new entities of commerce and is concentrating on robotic remote sensing, in ever greater detail of the surrounding part of our Solar System and local part of the Milky Way. Leave the Chinese to do some heavy lifting as another avenue to moving into space.

5) Information, someone said huge data, is about to help along in new means of doing things including government.

There will always be problems. But we are moving to find NEW solutions.

Could be a lot better but also could be a lot worse. Humanity will solve lots of problems, if the government gets out of the way and lets people do so.

Absolutely. Positively. Yes.

Not only is virtually every line of work far safer, more productive, and overall easier, but also virtually everything is more comfortable.

I have asthma. 100 years ago, I'm in a pretty tough spot. In the dirty 30's, yeah, I'm dead as ****.

If you can, be sure to install some blue-ray players as the trip will be quite arduous and we'll require some entertainment.

Um, yep... pretty much this.

But you did forget the wholesale outsourcing of the manufacturing jobs that used to create a strong middle class in this country.
