Obama: ObamaCare will be cheaper than your cell phone bill

President Obama signaled in an exclusive interview with radio hosts Tom Joyner and Sybil Wilkes that Martin Luther King Jr. would have liked his health care plan for Americans.

Obama spoke to the pair in the Oval Office to recognize the 50th anniversary of King’s March on Washington.

“What do you think he’d say about Obamacare?” asked Joyner, when discussing King’s legacy.

“Oh he’d like that,” Obama asserted. “Well, because he understood that health care, health security is not a privilege, it’s something in a county as wealthy as ours, everybody should have access to.”

Obama reminded the pair that it was important for everyone to sign up for Obamacare on healthcare.gov.

"We were just talking with some folks earlier about the fact that, for a lot of people, it will be cheaper than your cell phone bill," Obama explained.

Well, for people on food stamps, their grocery bills are cheaper ($0) than my cellphone bill ($80) each month.

I don't know, but if there's any truth to the idea that MLK would have approved of Obama's administration in any significant way (other than the incidental fact that America is capable of electing a dark skinned man to the Presidency), we should immediately eliminate MLK day from the calendar of federal holidays.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if it were true. He didn't say everyone, just "for a lot of people", which probably means the people who just barely make too much for Medicare, and will qualify for heavy federal subsidies in the health insurance exchanges.

If those people are that poor then WTF are they doing with expensive cell phone bills?

Most of those people spend more in cell phone bills a month than they have saved for retirement.

Just looked it up, if you make only a little over 17k, then you'll only have to pay about $57/month for no deductible and $3/visit. Thats roughly comparable to a cell phone bill that has a data plan.

Of course, if you make a lot more than that, the federal subsidies start going away pretty quickly. At roughly 29k, youll have to pay roughly $200/month

If you only make $17,000 you should be getting a cheaper phone than $57 a month, but I get your point I guess.
