Blitzing the shit out of Syria is not about regime change....OK

The president is consulting with leaders of Congress and allies abroad as he weighs military options such as missile strikes against Syrian military installations.

Asked if the president is contemplating the killing of Syrian leader Bashar Assad, Mr. Carney replied, “The options that we are considering are not about regime change.”

Keep in mind that the "bad guys" would probably be about 75% of the population....LOL

So this would just be another failed state where the USA has troops providing "technical assistance" (military training / air support / no fly zones/ missile strikes/drones), heavy weapons, etc.....to Islamic Jihadists.

Haven't we learned our lessons?

After the dust settles do you think this "dominant regime" would have get any respect by the PEOPLE it NEEDS to govern?

The USA cannot create puppet regimes any longer.

Its a fair outlook i've seen you have on this lately, if we go barging in their somehow, which side actually wins?

The sunni

The shia/alawites

The kurds

The Christians who're afraid of the sunni/wahabists getting power

Its true that there doesn't seem to be a vision for who actually takes over when were done laser guiding billions of dollars... and no matter which side wins, will they ever really appreciate our efforts?

Those are all damn fair questions to which i certainly have no answers, i'm currently reading No Easy Day, and while "Mark Owens" keeps things pretty vague, it helps me define the conflicting nature of missions over there.

PS - NED is a cool book, but there is much better reading out there about war in the ME.

No way should we send troops in to invade/occupy.

Let some coalition do the heavy lifting while we provide air support/missile bombardment.

Not really just making sure it's perfectly clear if no one got it.
