Obama's "bringing trickle back" (Yeah!)

"I'm bringin trickle back, yeah!
You mother Pubbies don't know how to act, yeah!"

Market soars, employment & wages stagnant: Dems hope for trickle-down Obamanomics

By TIMOTHY P. CARNEY | AUGUST 28, 2013 AT 1:45 PM

The flow of money between Washington and Wall Street is what little flow of money there is.... “Trickle down from the stock market and artificially low interest rates are the only drivers of the economy,” writes Ed Rogers at the Washington Post.

Rogers continues:

Obviously, an economic crash would be terrible, but so would a slowing down of the conveyor belt of money between Washington and Wall Street, which is fueling what little growth we have.

This puts Democrats in an odd position; right now the only thing worse than trickle-down economics is no trickle-down economics.

Democrats, of course, are supposed to hate “trickle-down economics.” President Obama says things like: “I ran for President to restore that basic bargain … that our economy works best not from the top-down, but from the middle-out.” The Democrats’ budget proclaims “The Senate Budget takes the position that trickle-down economics has failed as an economic policy. …”

So why, under Obama, do we get — at best — trickle-down economics? Why are corporate profits at record highs while median wages, unemployment, and new business formation stagnate?

Using the Fed to prop up the economy is the only vehicle for stimulus available, since Congress is unwilling to pass literally any bill.

Congratulations conservatives, it only took you thirty years and a Democrat in the white house to figure this out.

Also, leave out the massive new regulations that are coming down the pipe. Making it harder to do business and hire never stunts investment and expansion. Also, leave out the fact that the Fed is running the printing presses 24/7.

Yeah, an "uncertain regulatory climate" is why businesses aren't hiring. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the desire to maximize profits by squeezing every last drop of productivity out of the existing workforce.*

*which isn't intrinsically wrong but has dire macroeconomic consequences. .

When Ronald Reagan faced a Congress held by the opposition, he found a way to work with them. Indeed, it meant that he had to accept some of their initiatives as inevitable and limit his fights to issues on which he could win the support of the public like his tax cuts or issues over which he had more control like foreign policy. When it came to major legislation like the 1996 Tax Reform, he had to compromise. Obama attempts to dictate and bully and as a result he fails.

P.S. It helped a lot that Reagan's first policy victories resulted in positive results for the country instead of the massive failure and disappointment that Obama has generated.

TRFRA was '86.

I think Obama's big problem is he attacks conservativism. This makes his legions happy but at 42% of the public (per Gallup), it seems like a bad way to get any compromise. Clinton tried this from 92-94 and it failed and cost the Dems Congress. So he quit and decided to Triangulate. This worked. And made his presidency work. Obama likes to talk about "bitter" rural people and the "flat earth society" of folks who disagree with his Leftist science and of course, attacks on gun owners. He is his own worst enemy.

Government regulations all but forced my in-laws out of their business. The constant influx of new regs made it all but impossible for them to make any money.

Obama's problem is that he doesn't work enough with conservatives or adopt any of their planks like Clinton did or Reagan did with Dems. That makes sense. It's not like the ACA was originally sponsored by the Heritage Foundation and Bob Dole.
