Do whats right for your kids....Bad. Bad bad people.

Only liberals, especially liberals who live in places like the Hamptons, or even Johnson County, or Evanston, Marin County, or the Islands off Seattles Coast can come up with this bullshit.

You see, they find it repulsive that you or I would actually send our kids to private schools so they get a better education than the shit pushed out in some...I said some...public schools. These people have never been to South Carolina. They have not been to Kansas City...a great example of the absolute failure of public education. In fact Id bet money the people who write for Slate dont even have kids. And hopefully they never do.

No wonder the left is so ****ed up reading this garbage and believing it.

Doing everything you can to ensure your kids get a great education is not wrong. Subjecting them to the mindless pap pushed out by bad educators working in a bad system is child abuse.

http://www.slate.com/articles/double...o_private.html

You are a bad person if you send your children to private school. Not bad like murderer badóbut bad like ruining-one-of-our-nationís-most-essential-institutions-in-order-to-get-whatís-best-for-your-kid bad. So, pretty bad.

I am not an education policy wonk: Iím just judgmental. But it seems to me that if every single parent sent every single child to public school, public schools would improve. This would not happen immediately. It could take generations. Your children and grandchildren might get mediocre educations in the meantime, but it will be worth it, for the eventual common good. (Yes, rich people might cluster. But rich people will always find a way to game the system: That shouldnít be an argument against an all-in approach to public education any more than it is a case against single-payer health care.)

So, how would this work exactly? Itís simple! Everyone needs to be invested in our public schools in order for them to get better. Not just lip-service investment, or property tax investment, but real flesh-and-blood-offspring investment. Your local school stinks but you donít send your child there? Then its badness is just something you deplore in the abstract. Your local school stinks and you do send your child there? I bet you are going to do everything within your power to make it better.

Keep readingÖ

Its the age old 'sacrifice yourself for the good of society' canard except this isn't for the whole of society, just the public education unions and administrators.

I am thinking that if Allison Benedikt really really believes in her manifesto she should send her kids to a public school in Southeast DC, Anacostia seems like a good place. I am betting she wouldn't want to.

I wouldn't try to project this to be the attitude of every liberal. Slate's whole schtick is to write deliberately provocative articles in order to get views. Sometimes they are pretty funny.

I figured I'd come on here and read something you'd blown out of proportion and slam you for it. Instead, this is one of the dumbest ****ing things I've ever read. You actually may have understated how ****ing retarded this is. Because it's pretty ****ing retarded.

If you care more about your local public school than your child's education, you're a bad parent.

Yeah, they've become kind of this way. It wasn't always that way, though, was it? I don't even pay attention when I see someone retweet one of their articles anymore.
