George Zimmerman has been taken into police custody after a domestic inciden

http://abcn.ws/1ewR1NY

George Zimmerman is being held by police after a domestic incident involving a gun, police said today.

Police in Lake Mary, Florida, said that Zimmerman is being held at a residence of a relative on suspicion of domestic battery of his estranged wife. There is a gun present at the home and police are investigating whether it was used, they said.

Is his wife black or something? I'm having a hard time understanding how Jorge Zimmerman is racist here.

Deeds do not necessarily connect; that's why our judicial system doesn't usually allow someone's criminal past to be used as evidence in court.
We aren't talking about a judicial process. Zimmerman's past was largely left out and that's a good thing. We are talking about if zimmerman is a good or bad person. And sorry, but it's pretty much common sense that there are bad people who outwardly do good things. It happens in the Nfl all the time. Aaron hernandez was a guy that was praised for his community work.

If you are a jerk who contributes to the community, sorry you're still a jerk. If you're a nut job that does nice things, sorry, you're still a nut job.

So how do you determine who's a jerk??? Somebody who's contributing to society who's had a checkered past is always gonna be a jerk?

I'm just using the criminal system as an example because it's supposed to be unbiased and fair...and I don't think you can paint someone forever a bad guy because he's done something bad among good things...just like you can paint him good because he's done something good among bad things. Actually almost all of us fall into those descriptions, but I bet most of us think we're good people. Of course, in obvious cases, like a pedophile who works the soup lines at his local homeless shelter, it's a little easier to catagorize/judge that person, isn't it? The good and bad being extremely unbalanced.

I cut Zimmerman some slack for his behavior because of what his life has become, whether people want to argue he's done it to himself or not. I can't imagine living a life where I know a lot of people hate me and wondering if someone is going to kill me at any given moment and that anything I do will be scrutinized. I think it would be impossible to live the rest of my life in any "normal" fashion without a great deal of conflict and angst. I wouldn't be surprised to one day hear he's killed himself.

It's not like this is just happening. He has a history of erratic behavior and I think it's silly for his apologists to give him a mulligan on what he's done in the past.

I'm not saying he's a jerk. I just used that word to make a point. I see him as a condescending tough guy who spent his entire life obsessively looking down on people when he has problems of his own. And his obsession with patrol and calling 911 isn't normal. It's obsessive. So yeah, I feel bad for the guy and have maintained his innocence and hope he sues the pants off of the media for making up stories. I think you have a valid point, but this thread is full of excuses and apologies for a guy, and ridiculous saintly portrayals of the guy who has done more than enough bad things in his life to question his character.

This seems to be very relevant to the discussion.

I think you're being more fair with him than most but I still see you making a lot of assumptions on who he is without any real insight, but that is the court of public opinion, isn't it?

Not many assumptions. He clearly obsessed over detective work with the number of 911 calls, frequent calls to the police to ask about the work, and frequent neighborhood patrol. His condescending behavior was shown in the way he went off on Mexicans in a myspace post and calling trayvon a ****ing punk in the 911 call.

Was he a rulebreakers himself? Yes. Got in trouble with the law 3 times... Your judgment on whether he was unlucky, or if he brings it upon himself. Committed perjury. Already got caught speeding twice since the trial ended. Twice had the police called by a wife or fiance, one time leading to a restraining order.

Again, I think he is a guy who obsesses over judging other people when he has problems of his own.

Jeez, we all have problems and don't we judge others; don't you have problems while still judging Zimmerman?

Is the "three times" in trouble after the trial?

Wouldn't a real troublemaker skip the phone calls to 911? Why bother talking to the police dept. if you're an obsessive hard ass? Frequent neighborhood patrols? My HOA does those.

I'm not aware of the perjury accusation but a president you may have voted for, and is still adored, committed perjury...are you being consistent in your scorn?

Going off on MySpace on people who may have been attacking him; say it isn't so...post here often?

Zimmerman lied about his finances to get more favorable bail. It's not an accusation, it's a fact. And I wouldn't be saying these things if people didn't treat him like some kind of hero.

Over 40 calls to 911 isn't normal for an ordinary citizen. It's obsessive. His intrigue into police work wasn't normal and he wasn't just an ordinary patrol guy. He was obsessive about it. And he wasn't complaining on myspace because he was attacked.

I don't know how anyone can look at his behavior and think this is normal. He is a guy who gets off on law enforcement yet can't follow the rules himself. Even in the trayvon thing, while he was justified to get out of the car, he broke pretty much every basic protocol as if the rules don't apply to him. Sorry if you can't see it and want to make excuses about it. I think he's a tool who found himself in a bad situation.
