Rand Paul, 2016 Republican front-runner

Rand Paul, 2016 Republican front-runner
By Chris Cillizza

The first eight-plus months of 2013 have convinced us of one thing: Rand Paul acts and the rest of the potential 2016 Republican presidential field reacts.

What in the hell is fringe about Rand Paul?

I'm not convinced she's running, but she's no shoo-in if she does. By all conventional wisdom, she should have mopped the floor with the D field, but instead lost to a foreign-born Muslim community organizer with a weird first name, a middle name shared with a major US enemy, and a last name that's almost a match of then-public enemy #1. She's no sure thing.

Then why am I seeing bumperstickers and posts on Facebook about how such and such is "Ready for Hillary?"

Am I seeing some wishful ****ing thinking in action or what?

Great article here:

Anyone who says Rand Paul can't get the nomination needs to check their premises. He's easily the front runner right now. It's going to end up being between Christie, Paul, and Cruz. Everyone else is just a side show.

Rand can easily win in that environment.

No Paul will ever be elected president or nominated, except by the lunatic fringe libertarian party.

Write it down.

To the OP, I really hope a better candidate emerges from the republican party. IMO Paul would get buzzsawed by the democrats.

The democrats don't have anybody new and fresh just hiding somewhere. They've got a bunch of broken old neocon equivalents like Hillary Clinton, Biden and Kerry. That ship sailed when Obama decided to strike Syria with "his" army and they all signed on in a show of solidarity. The democrats are going to find themselves behind the Republicans in 2016 because they're going to have the same split with their base where establishment democrats will be pit against their own grass roots who are no longer willing to come along.

That's a BIG pool of people that Rand Paul is going to be able to draw from. Reagan showed us what that's all about. Libertarian tongued presidents have a way of calling them blue dogs out there home.

I like Paul for his consistency. But his fringe anti-government views isn't going to win him the presidency.

/especially not in Republican Party who sole mission is increasing corporate power within government.

The GOP is successful at the state level by focusing on economic issues and the realities of actual daily governance. John Kasich is an excellent candidate with real world experience both in the us Senate and the governors chair, who'd be great at the debates and he gives you a legit shot at Ohio which, frankly, the GOP cannot win the electoral college without.
This is a surprisingly reasonable post.
