ObamaCare goodness continues

Home Depot Inc. (HD), the world’s largest home improvement retailer, plans to end medical coverage for about 20,000 part-time employees and direct them to government-sponsored exchanges scheduled to open next month as companies revamp benefits to fit the U.S. Affordable Care Act.

Employees with fewer than 30 hours a week will no longer be offered limited liability medical coverage, Stephen Holmes, a spokesman, said today by telephone. About 5 percent of Atlanta-based Home Depot’s 340,000 employees are enrolled in that plan.

Its why insurance plans often give you free annual physicals, they want you to see the doctor every year, because the insurance companies apparently also believe that preventative care can save them money.
No, they will go to the doctor but that extra use of services will RARELY exhibit any cost savings quite the contrary. They will go to the doctor when they have a cold or multiple other minor reasons. There is NOTHING to indicate they will go for preventative care or that they will take any recommended steps even if they do. AT BEST you MAY have SOME people who exhibit symptoms and go to a doctor earlier than they would without insurance and catch an otherwise costly disease early enough to save on treatment. Of course that is all theory which has no serious basis in reality. Let's look at a possible example. Guy A has no insurance and avoids the doctor until the very last minute and finds out he has terminal cancer. He receives expensive treatment for a few months and dies. Guy B goes to the doctor as soon as he exhibits symptoms and (miraculously) the doctor manages to catch his cancer early enough. Guy B then receives a year of expensive treatments and ends up cancer free. Which of these two costs more money? The problem is that no one does the TRUE math. They leave out significant portions of the overall equation. Let's pretend for a minute that Guy B's treatment was significantly less expensive (not AT ALL close to reality but let's roll with it). So based on that I can say "LOOK AT THE COST SAVINGS!" Ok, but Guy A is dead, he costs NOTHING from now on. We now need to look at Guy B's total cost vs what he puts into the system from here on out as well. There is no amount of fuzzy math that is going to make this work out in favor of a "cost savings."

Now, I'm not advocating "let people die early" as a healthcare solution. I am however saying that your thinking on cost analyses has no basis in reality.

I agree they have emergency health care. I don't agree they can go to the ER and get elective surgeries like vasectomies, shoulder and knee surgery, mastectomies, or other treatments like psychological visits etc.

Over 300 companies have laid workers off because of Obamacare: http://news.investors.com/politics-o...hours-jobs.htm

The whole thing was based on a lie.

Sorry, I am not trying to put words in your mouth or define your position. Those statements were just general statements. I should have used "one" there instead of "you".

The only part directed to YOU in particular was the part where I feel you will look back one day and regret supporting this monstrosity. Unlike many others on both sides of the debate I know you are fully capable of making that judgment down the road and saying "welp, that sure didn't turn out like I thought it should."

I voted for Ronald Reagan twice. I already know that feeling.

McCain would have had us in at least two shooting wars. Palin one heartbeat away? Come on, never going to regret that vote.

Romney was just too far right at the end. Too pro business and had no feelings or understanding for the 47%. Just not the right man for the job.

It's real simple. Insurances for anyone are going to go up, because of the stupid Obamacare. The premiums for employers, and employees are going up. In our household, we're already seeing it. So much for the lie of making insurance affordable for everyone. It's just another rob from Peter, to pay Paul theory.

I've seen my premiums go up every year for the past 15 years or so since I've been paying for health insurance. I didn't realize that Obamacare caused that.

So, you're under the impression that health care costs and health insurance costs have simply risen with the inflation rate?

Im under the impression you are a ****ing dumbass if you dont understand why health insurance for a 15 year old is cheaper than a 30. 30 costs less than a 45. and a 45 less than a 60.
