FINALLY! Obama to secure Mexican border!

Obama administration considers new plan to bolster Mexico’s southern border

Obama administration and Mexican government officials recently discussed creating a three-tier security system designed to protect Mexico's southern border from drug and human traffickers, according to U.S. officials.

The border control plan calls for U.S. funding and technical support of three security lines extending more than 100 miles north of Mexico's border with Guatemala and Belize. The border security system would use sensors and intelligence-gathering to counter human trafficking and drug running from the region, a major source of illegal immigration into the United States.

According to the officials who discussed the U.S.-Mexican talks on condition of anonymity, the Mexican government proposed setting up three security cordons using electronic sensors and other security measures along the southern Mexican border, along a line some 20 miles from the southern border, and along a third security line about 140 miles from the southern Mexican territorial line.

The plan would be funded in part through the Merida Initiative, a U.S.-led anti-drug trafficking program that has involved nearly $2 billion in U.S. funds.

Border patrol strength in the SW is up 600% in the last 20 years and 700% in the North. We have 3000 more agents on the Mexican border now than when Obama took office.

ICE's officers union president Chris Crane has openly admitted this on multiple occasions.

Despite the Obama Administration’s claims of robust border enforcement and record-high ICE deportation numbers, Crane noted how the administration actually cooks the books and inflates deportation numbers. Data that Crane obtained demonstrates that, since 2008, ICE arrests and deportations “have plummeted.”

Crane explained how it works: Border Patrol (a separate agency from ICE) makes an arrest on the border, but instead of handling the deportation itself, Border Patrol hands the detainee over to ICE to deport the individual, thereby inflating the number of ICE deportations. Crane described it as a “shell game” that allows what would normally be a mere "turn-back" to be counted as a formal "deportation," thus inflating the deportation statistics.

"ICE's claims that it has deported more illegal aliens than any time in history is false. ICE's claims that its efforts have led the deportation of more criminal aliens are false. ICE and DHS claims that the interior and the border are more secure, likewise, are false."

Quote:
Chris Crane, who heads the union representing more than 7,000 ICE agents and officers, tells NRO that he has long been baffled by the administration’s claims of record deportation numbers. “We just don’t see it in our offices,” he says. “Every year we supposedly break the record for deportation, and we can’t figure out what’s going on. We don’t believe these numbers.” Administration officials claim to have deported 409,849 immigrants in fiscal year 2012, up from 392,000 in 2010. Crane argues that stats are being cooked to create a false impression of President Obama’s record on immigration enforcement.

“DHS and ICE are knowingly manipulating arrest and deportation data with the specific intent of misleading the American public with regard to the enforcement of illegal immigration in our country,” he told reporters Thursday at a Capitol Hill press conference. “At an alarming rate, ICE arrest and deportation numbers have plummeted since 2008, clear evidence that interior enforcement has in large part been shut down over the last four years.”

being mexican, i know quite a few Illegals through the years, and not one of them have been "lazy" just to collect welfare. If they can get a job, they will work harder then anyone you can even possibly know. I see alot of immigrant workers EVERY SINGLE year bust ass in the 105-110 degree ass heat to get paid ass, but they are out there at 4-5am working all day in the ****ing heat for a few bucks, hell, even women go out there.

also, i dont know how it is anywhere else, but welfare isnt like it used to be, theydont help you for long even if they do help you. I know a few "legal" mexicans that are on it, and while the goverment may help them with section 8 and what not, the money doesnt come in all that much, but i tell you what, i can get some foodstamps easy for 50 cents on the dollar from a whole bunch of white people around here. Once the first comes, its a piece of cake. I cant find that with mexicans though.

Agreed. In Arizona they come here to work because they can't find work at home.
It's better here. I disagree with being here illegally but if I was them if do whatever I could to support my family too. What chaps my ass is lots don't want to assimilate into our culture.

Dependent on welfare is just something Republicans tell themselves to make themselves feel better about continuing to lose the popular vote.

We can post all the evidence we want about how untrue it is (and the fact that majority of the Republican base are the largest users of the entitlement system -- S.S.), but it's hard to get pass the B.S. noise of talk radio.

The Party of Personal Responsibility is full of excuses for themselves. Dependent on Welfare is just another in a long list of excuses Republicans give for being unpopular and not once do they look at themselves.

Keep calling S.S. an entitlement akin to Welfare and Food Stamps. It might even fly with the youth vote.

Quote:
Federal budget and Census data show that, in 2010, 91 percentof the benefit dollars from entitlement and other mandatory programs went to the elderly (people 65 and over), the seriously disabled, and members of working households. People who are neither elderly nor disabled — and do not live in a working household — received only 9 percent of the benefits.

Moreover, the vast bulk of that 9 percent goes for medical care, unemployment insurance benefits (which individuals must have a significant work history to receive), Social Security survivor benefits for the children and spouses of deceased workers, and Social Security benefits for retirees between ages 62 and 64. Seven out of the 9 percentage points go for one of these four purposes.
