Boehner's Deal to Avoid a Shut Down

Seems reasonable...
  • Repeal of the Medical Device Tax
  • One year delay on the individual mandate
  • The Senate's Continuing Resolution gets pushed to December 15th
  • Troops get paid regardless

Why don't Republicans care that they've won the central issue that a CR is about (the total level of government spending)?

Oh well. Come what may!

If the House has passed a budget and the Senate has passed a budget then why didn't the GOP appoint their members to the conference committee?

Seems that the thing to do is to have the conference negotiate for the best deal that could pass both chambers and not be vetoed.

Seems like these GOP legislators are not being honest brokers about the budget process. Why didn't they agree to conference and pass legislation the traditional way without being delusional and purposefully creating a crisis.

The whole GOP plan was premised on an idea that the Democrats would acquiesce because you think they did before.

I love you, Pat, but I swear to God, Cheney could go on ABC and sacrifice innocent babies and you'd rationalize it.

As I was flipping around the news channels just now, someone on Fox stated that the "budgets" that were passed were technically continuing resolutions, and since constinuing resolutions merely extend current levels of spending, they never go to conference committee. Take that for what it is worth.
