Boehner's Deal to Avoid a Shut Down

Seems reasonable...
  • Repeal of the Medical Device Tax
  • One year delay on the individual mandate
  • The Senate's Continuing Resolution gets pushed to December 15th
  • Troops get paid regardless

What concessions have the Republicans made?

Why does the President have to make concessions in order for Congress to pay the bills already approved of by Congress?

It is my hope they can leverage more spending cuts. I am no fan of anyone in our government. It is too big and out of control. I also would like to see this healthcare bullshit put off and maybe they can work together to fix it~

Yup.

This is, plainly and simply, antidemocratic extortion.

A year ago, the GOP lost the vote for POTUS, Senate, and House running on the idea that we should drastically cut everything, and Obamacare should be repealed.

They got thumped.

So, now they're threatening to shut down the government or default on our debt unless we drastically cut everything, and Obamacare gets repealed.

Can a conservative in this thread please explain how this isn't a drastically irresponsible attempt at extorting policies they couldn't democratically win on?

That didn't answer the question.

If this is anything resembling a compromise, what did the Democrats ask for that Republicans gave up?

Saying "we will do our job and fund the government if you delay your signature piece of legislation and take away one of the prime funders for said legislation" isn't a compromise.

It's hostage taking.

I don't like the language "hostage taking," but it's definitely extortion.

We will wreck the economy altogether if we don't get what we lost in November on.

Sounds reasonable, right people?

He is only enforcing part of it. Why doesn't he use this to work with the otherside and fix this train wreck? He would rather shut down the government to enforce only part of it. Say what you will but this Backdoor deal was passed in a very shady manner. Now is their only chance to repair it~

Have you seen what else the Republicans Demand?

Instructions for tax reform, under Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) budget
Keystone XL Pipeline construction
An overhaul of Dodd-Frank regulations
More offshore oil drilling
Means testing Medicare
Suspending the Environmental Protection Agency's efforts to regulate carbon emissions
Repeal of the Public Health Trust Fund
Block Net Neutrality

Basically, they are using funding the government to enact almost every piece of legislation they want in the most anti-republic manner possible.

I don't really care I view the entire government with disappointment and if this bill can get stopped or at least delayed I am happy~

This is what they should have been doing from day 1 and what they should have done when the debt ceiling was up for debate. It's what drives me nuts about the new GOP and why their reputation has taken a big hit. This at least is finally an actual proposal put on the table.
