Boehner's Deal to Avoid a Shut Down

Seems reasonable...
  • Repeal of the Medical Device Tax
  • One year delay on the individual mandate
  • The Senate's Continuing Resolution gets pushed to December 15th
  • Troops get paid regardless

The Republicans would approve a lot of spending they are clearly unhappy with, including entitlement reform. The Republicans would be giving up a shitload.

Oh do tell.

I'm all ears.

While you're at it, answer this question: is this not extortion by the party that just got its ass handed to it a year ago to achieve policies they couldn't democratically succeed on?

Yeah, no. That knife cuts both ways. Democrats would approve a lot of the budget they are clearly unhappy with.

This false equivalency is hilarious, people.

The Republicans demand a full menu of shit they lost the last election on, and now are demanding a shutdown of the government or a default on our debt if they don't get it.

The debt ceiling pays for shit that's already been appropriated. That's why a minority party using it as a bludgeon to get what they want is the dumbest f'ing idea in the history of dumb f'ing ideas.

Stupid party doesn't begin to describe the state of current R politics. Terri Schiavo-level brain dead is way closer to reality.

The dumbest ****ing idea in the history of dumbing ****ing ideas is appropriating money that we don't have in the first place. Brain dead politics and policies are shared by both parties.

The GOP can't even approve it's own spending bills, so lecturing Democrats about responsible budgets with the entire economy at risk is hilariously stupid.

Shared?

Ah, I see. It's shared.

So the Democrats have been threatening a default/gov't shutdown if a laundry list of their needs hasn't been met, too?

I assume the American people voted for divided government, then? Rather than handing the Dems more votes in every branch of electable government, a year ago?

Makes all the sense in the world.

Give us what we want, or we'll shut down the government.
The Republicans are a majority in the people's House, where spending bills originate.

My post is self explanatory. Sell your rhetoric some place else, it has no effect here.

And considering the house is republican controlled, I'd say yes, the country did elect a divided government.

Republicans want to defund Obamacare completely or repeal it outright. They've offered to settle for postponing the individual mandate (to bring it in line with the corporate mandate) and repealing the medical device tax.

Captain Obtuse in rare form. Only you would spin a win of 49% of the popular vote in the House as a thumping/mandate.
