The bias I this forum is hysterical and lies within party lines.

Anywho, the Tea Party's last hope is trying to defund.

Or would you care to explain why SCOTUS upheld the law?

The bigger issue is they are willing to allow currently-owed bills to not be paid--bills for which Congress approved the spending. They are willing to allow default. It's irresponsible and unprecedented.

I don't blame you at all for wanting to change the conversation, but I doubt that you'll succeed in convincing anyone that that's the bigger issue.

Actual text for context:

In a separate question, 49% of all people in the poll say that Obama is acting like a responsible adult in this budget battle, with 47% describing him as a spoiled child. While that's nothing to brag about, it's better than Congress.

According to the poll, 58% say congressional Democrats are acting like spoiled children, with that number rising to 69% for the GOP in Congress. Only one in four say congressional Republicans are acting like responsible adults.

I presume you read the opinion?

It's because Roberts did the work the Administration refused to do and accurately called the thing what it is - a Tax.

The ACA passed under Congresses Taxing and Spending powers - nothing more. I think you're vastly overstating both the arguments made in the SCOTUS against its legality and exactly what the Roberts ruling meant.

And Roberts was correct (as he almost always is - he's a brilliant jurist). You're absolutely right that the law is Constitutional - but just as Congress has the power to implement a tax, it also has the power within the Constitution to defund certain federal programs and entitlements. It has the power of the purse, so to speak. With that power Congress also has the power to not pass spending bills and essentially de-fund all programs.

Live by the sword - die by the sword. Obama got lucky the first time. He and his administration passed this thing by swearing up and down that it wasn't a tax. Had the SCOTUS held them to that, it never would've survived the Constitutional challenge (it was absolutely not permissible under the Commerce Clause). But the SCOTUS, notably Justice Roberts, bailed him out. Okay, that's fine. But if you're going to use Congress to railroad a bill when you have the majority, you'll have to deal with the fallout when you no longer have said majority.

You keep going back to "The SCOTUS upheld it - what's that tell you?" In short - it tells you nothing at all in the present context.

Now for actual polling. 74-19 indie disapproval is a thumping.

Quote:
American voters are divided on Obamacare, with 45 percent in favor and 47 percent opposed, but they are opposed 58-34 percent to Congress cutting off funding for the health care law to stop its implementation. Republicans support the federal government shutdown by a narrow 49-44 percent margin, but opposition is 90-6 percent among Democrats and 74-19 percent among independent voters.
