It's ridiculous. I mean, outright ridiculous.
I haven't seen any estimations. I also am not in favor of a debt ceiling but, there is a strong possibility I am coming at it from a different perspective.

My opinion is that not only is it unnecessary, it's unnecessarily politicized.

Not paying our bills and funding our services should never even be considered, regardless of political party.

I agree with that in principle. But I take it a step further. If we have to go into debt to fund something, we shouldn't be passing it in the first place. Not always practical, I know. But used as a general guide line like the common house hold does, and we avoid so much of this mess.

The won 1 part of Congress, the Dems won the Senate and the WH. 2 beats 1 every day. Throw in you need 2/3 majority to over turn a veto and you can see that you are wasting your time trying to overturn Obamacare.

They won the ONLY part of govt that is important when it comes to funding. Everyone seems to ignore that fact. WTF is wrong with us respecting how our govt is supposed to function.

So is the Senate just supposed to rubber stamp all House legislation?

Nope. But if anyone should take the blame when the two can't compromise it's them. They are the ones who instead of following the House's lead and accepting the will of the people (which the House represents not just in theory but in reality in this case), instead they are threatening DEFAULT and attempting to extort what they want.

If you don't like this that's fine you have three choices. 1)Elect new Reps next year 2)change the Constitution 3)wish and pray the the House doesn't do it's job and ignores their oaths to represent the people.

The reason why the Reps will be blamed is because they are willing to shut down the government over something completely unrelated. The Dems aren't asking anything out of the right except a clean bill.

the bottom line is Obama and the Dems are being about as hypocritic as you can get and the press is supporting them.

It's disingenuous to say the least for Obama to say the AHCA is "the law of the land" when he personally and illegally has tweaked said law 17 times.

ARGHHHHH! You are parroting the media bullshit. That simply ISN'T HOW IT WORKS. (or at least was set up to work)

So what you want is a House that just gives any and all funding to the Senate that the Senate wants. Period.

It is NOT unrelated. If it requires FUNDING it is within the HOUSE'S purview.

The ones usurping the process are the truculent Senate under Reid who refuse to listen to the WILL OF THE PEOPLE! They are the ones threatening DEFAULT. Just because you don't like it and just because Reid, Obama and the media repeat the same lie over and over and over again... doesn't make it true.

It is GLARINGLY clear that the House is responsible for funding and have said "the people don;t want this crap funded" and instead of dealing with it, the Senate SCREAMS DEFAULT! DEFAULT!

Sorry but this is on them.

(you are correct that the big lie will still go over and the GOP will get most of the blame)

If it was about funding, then they should be talking about spending cuts and deficits then and not the ACA.
